Tinder...changing location using VPN

Has anyone managed to successfully change their location using android phone and VPN? I've disbabled all GPS settings on the phone and have the VPN Gateway set to another country but it's still locating me in current city.

Regardless if you disable the gps in your phone emergency services i.e. 911, police, fire can still located you. Sim or not you are connected to the cell towers in your area, thats why you can still make emergency calls if you have no sim card.
If you truly want to be not findable put your phone into "airplane mode". It will disable the radio within the phone.

Tinder is way wrong anyway, I've seen matches as far away as Colorado while in eastern Kansas. So either there are huge bugs in the app, or it doesn't wait long enough for a fine GPS fix.

Something like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...xa.fakegps
or https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...e.location ?

VPN can't help you here because application uses GPS to locate you, not your IP.

thanks dkby. I have the "FakeGPS APP" running now. Which location settings in the Android settings should be enabled/ disabled so that they don't "overrule the Fake App locator as there's:

GPS Satelites
Location and Google Search
Compass Warning
Google Location services

I checked the App info in Fake GPS and disabled all of the above mentioned settings and enabled others it suggested, restarted the device and started the fake gps app first and then Tinder. I tried this a few times with Tinder searching and finding nobody in the area...

Test Fake GPS on maps app or something to see if it actually fakes your location properly.

It can be useful if you are traveling and what to check out the local talent beforehand.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

If you have a jailbroken device you can install "Protect my Privacy" and change your location to anywhere in the world.

It works for pipelining or just checking out your exotic value. For example I got 10x more matches in Lima, Peru than back home.

Good thinking, Vicious. The olympic village is next to the biathlon stadium which is at: 43.69231, 40.32477

Would be awesome to see a forum member score from there [Image: lol.gif]

Is there anybody who has successfully managed to do this yet with Android?

Yeah, just download the app "Fake GPS".

Set your location to wherever, go into maps to check if it worked.
Might have to do this once or twice.

Open up tinder and change your distance slightly so it updates your profile.

Fairly easy to figure out.

Fairly easy to figure out indeed (aside from the small issue that following the instructions doesn't work)

To expand as there were more settings to check (For this not to work) was to check the "allow mock locations" which is in the Developer Settings. I've tried changing the location in the "Fake GPS" App and have adjusted the Tinder settings. I also went through every option in the Location mode of the Android OS and checked one option and repeated the above

High Accuracy (GPS and Networks)

Battery Saving (Networks only)

Device Sensors Only (GPS only)

The results are consistent. It doesn't work.

I've even tried using a VPN separately from the above settings and Tinder doesn't allow you to sign in. It just times out

Ahh yes of course. Forgot about the mock settings. I have a Galaxy s5 and the settings window opened automatically when I opened "Fake GPS".

Ok I got it working.

The two things I changed and were the deciding factors to the previous post:

1. Long press a space in the Home Screen and "Add to Home Screen" option appears. Click Apps. Select Fake GPS App and it appears a second time in the Home Screen (now 2 "Fake GPS" App Icons as it was already in home screen)

2. Reset device

It's hard to believe that moving the app into the system app folder made all of the difference. The Source I found for this is here:
