pull # on dancefloor

My education in this field is really uneven. Mechanically, how do you pull a # on the dancefloor (or even in general) on a smartphone? Do you add a new contact? Do you take her phone and call yourself? I've done all types of things both on and off the dancefloor. I've lately been popping my phone, opening up my facebook, making the person search, select themselves, and adding them as a friend. A little taxing. I grabbed a girl's phone once, casually, and it didn't go over well because she was texting her friends, right there, about me.

Do you ever give someone your own/take someone else's phone?

You don't get a number on the dancefloor. Your goal should be to leave with her that night, and to do that you need to get her one on one. First I tell the girl, "Let's go somewhere to talk" and grab her hand to lead her through the crowd to a quiet area (preferably close to the door). Then I talk and plant the seed about leaving together. If she won't bounce with me, I would take a number, but that's a low percentage play.

As for the process of adding new girls to my phone, I open up my texting app and have her type in her phone number. Then I immediately send her a text saying "hi [girl] this is bacchus"- the one's who are dtf will respond to this text with something friendly. If she doesn't respond to the initial text, no worry, but that's not a hot lead.

Don't grab her phone. An American girl will give you access to all of her orifices before she lets you even touch her phone.

Bacchus nailed it.

For the 1% of times that you can't do that, I usually call myself from her phone.
If you can get a selfie to add to the contacts, that's even better.

The whole thing should be smooth though.

I fully agree. But, sometimes I just leave first, maybe or maybe not to come back. There are all kinds of interactions. Sometimes, I like to keep things light. Especially if I am casually vs. intensely approaching or am with someone else and would like to speak to her later. Sometimes you see the same people in the club 2 nights or 2 weeks in a row. Nothing wrong with getting their info. I have been following McQueen's advice on having the club on lockdown for years. And, believe me, I have no interest in texting a chick who is essentially a failed pick-up.

Oh, ok. I wasn't realizing there are two fields: address/number and message. I've done this and texted her phone number to my phone number, and I've done this texting her directly.

If I'm in a good club in a good mood, I talk to a lot of people. You're not going to pick up every girl. I am as much looking for female friends (especially in groups) willing to help me out with club entry as I am looking to pull.

I considered getting a number on the dancefloor, leaving, and then if there was rapport, texting from somewhere else in the club. It would depend on how it felt.

Did this in a third-tier Vegas club, and it didn't fly. Nothing bad--it just didn't fly.

Thanks, Bacchus and WIA, in this case, I just needed a procedure which was casual and nonstressful.

I was trying to type in a web address to show her something. Usually, if I'm talking to a girl I'm dancing with, she generally isn't holding my interest.

In this case, I believe I blew something that would have been good long-term due to lack of short-term interest. I don't know if this is true, but the girl said she was 21 and all of her friends were 20. She didn't know much about clubs. In spite of a lack of attraction, she and her friends would have been helpful with entry ratios over the next, say, 4-5 years. It would have been mutually beneficial.
