There is an evil grin on my face in the anticipation of a "punisher" group, where there are three or four powerful teams (say, Brazil, Germany, France and Netherlands) and one of them necessarily has to go away. It makes for best games of any Championship.

I'm hoping England does well, wishful thinking, but I don't think they are good enough to go far.

I would like to see Brazil or Colombia win the World Cup.

Why won't the UK just get together and field a team? I'm sure the answer is both really easy and really complicated, but that could be what finally puts them over the top.

There was a Great Britain team at the last olympics. I wonder what they learned from that experience?

There was a Great Britain football team that was put together last year for the Olympics but the very best players from the UK were not chosen, and the team did terrible! I was wondering why no Scottish players were picked, maybe there was a dispute with the Scottish FA.

For England to be a World class side, they need to fix their grassroots problem, and start from the ground up, for many years, English coaches pretty much only focused on the physical side to football and ignored the fast, and technically gifted. Because of this, I think it will be at least 10 years before an England side can amount to anything.

Terrible draw for the U.S.

Germany, Portugal, Ghana, U.S. = Group of Death

Will be surprised if they get through, but that seems to be the standard for the U.S. anyway. I don't think anyone is expecting much.

Anglo countries in general got screwed. Aussies are screwed, English, Americans.

Asian countries got really easy draws, except Australia, which is not really Asia. CONCACAF is screwed.

Spain or Brazil to win it all.

Glad England got a difficult group.

We won't get out our group regardless of which one we are in.

And secondly - we actually play better against good teams. Partly because the players get inspired. And partly because the English game is based around counter-attacking the opposition and exploiting the gaps they leave as they attack us. We often struggle more agains the poor sides who park the bus and never leave their half.

Yeah S. Korea will get games in colder more favorable climates (Cuiaba, Porto Alegre, and São Paulo) whereas Japan despite good draw has to be play in much warmer temps (Recife, Natal, and Cuiaba)

The luckiest in this draw were without a doubt the French

Come on: Switzerland, Honduras, Ecuador.

If they aren't first of their group, they will be a total failure ( and Argentina will punish them, shall they finish 2nd)

Hopefully the US doesn't enter already defeated in their minds. Then again, the last fucking thing we need is a shitty Disney movie about the USMNT overcoming 'insurmountable odds' and pulling off a draw against Ghana.

Bad draw for england.

If we draw against Italy (most likely result) and lose against Uruguay then Italy will play uruguay in the last game both knowing that a draw will see both of them through (assuming they both beat costa rica which seems likely).
