Stockholm Syndrome, Sweden

Heyhey. Just spent 4 days scouting Stockholm Sweden.

The city

Big. Spread out. Fast paced. I arrived from Oslo Norway, where folks were moving in slow motion comparatively. With so much hustle & bustle, Stockholm feels like the unofficial capital of Scandinavia. Similar to how Chicago is the unofficial capital of the American mid west. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was a small fish in a big pond here.

Price wise, just about as obscenely expensive as Oslo. Maybe a hair cheaper. A baby hair.

All the cafes serve the same things. Lunch starts at $12. $18 for a serving that will satisfy an American appetite.

Stockholmers (Stocks? Stocklovites?)...are a prouder, less low-key people than the other scandis. The airport & my hotel liked to remind me with pictures of celebrities like Roxette, and Dolph Lundgren. Thought he was Russian for sure after Rocky III. Still, they are not as nationalistic or obnoxious as your avg American.

But let's get to the reason you care. Let me guess...hot blondes?

The girls

Let's get 1 thing out of the way regarding "Land of 1000 blondes"; I certainly didn't see that many in Stockholm. During the day, I saw just as many blondes as any other big US city.

A small % of the girls are what you probably think of when you imagine Swedish hotties. These enhanced color blondes (or dyed black and straight) often sport an alternative piercing (nose, lip, eyebrow), and bronze skin, making them look like porn stars. Girls who rock this look in the west are proper cunts, but in stockholm these types remain friendly.

Faces are pretty. Girls dress nice enough, and in all black. Their bodies are decent, if unremarkable. They don't have as much ass and hips as girls in Oslo or Helsinki. Stockholm chicks are thinner than those, but not as thin as eastern euro girls.

Feminist? Yes. But as a fellow forumer confirmed over a beer, "it's a different kind of feminism". Compared to San Fran or DC feminists, Swedish feminists still look and act feminine. The blue hair and black rimmed glasses seen in Helsinki were delightfully absent in Stockholm.
Still, don't touch the subject. Expressing traditional gender vaules will not win you any points here, as it does in eastern Europe.

Swedes & Norwegians have some of the highest standards of living in the world. But unlike American girls, it hasn't messed them up in the head. Compared to American girl personalities, Swedish girls are a joy. They have equality and welfare, but are still feminine and sweet.

Swedish men are notoriously shy. A bit of bold is shocking for girls to hear. Opening them confidently was usually enough to get traction. As far as novelty factor for being American, no fucks were given.

Day game:

Compared to other big cities, Stockholm is not good for daygame, for a few reasons. One, the downtown area is too large & spread out, making it a chore to locate targets. Drottningatten was the busiest street, but it was too hectic during lunch & rush hour for me to get any traction with the few cute girls I did see. After 7-8pm, the city center streets are nearly deserted. The fundamental problem, is there just weren't enough targets.

Now some guys say Stockholm only lacks talent during the cold months. Here's why that claim doesn't hold up; Other cities have plenty of HB's visible during the cold. Many of which I scouted just weeks earlier (Kiev, Tallinn, Wroclaw, Prague to name a few).

To be fair, summer no doubt brings tourists to the city. But if it's non-natives you want, you're better served going to their source country in the first place.

Night game

I was in town during the week. As such, I did not experience much of the famed nightlife scene. I did make it to a few spots though. Only one called Riche bar was decent, on suggestion from 2 fellow forumers I caught up with for drinks. Unfortunately the venue was an 80/20 sausage ratio. The girls I did chat up were friendly enough, but nothing to write home about. The real night talent here, as with any real city, happens on Fri Sat, by all accounts.

Online:

The Tinder app here has a moderate user base. Not as many users as in Oslo though. Happypancake (yes, that's the real name) has more prospects, but it's all in Swedish, and the interface is clunky to use. Especially from a phone screen. Okcupid has a small presence.

From online, many back & forth tire kickers responded, but only got 2 girls live & in person. The first turned out to be an American expat. The second was a 9 online, but secret internet fatty in person. I was tempted to fuck her for the flag, but fresh off 4 lays in Kiev, I didn't feel desperate enough yet.

Final thoughts:

Not what I expected.

After a lifetime of hype, hearing about Swedish blondes from Stockholm, the city seemed more middle eastern than scandi. Quality is there, but you have to scour. When you do find it, Stockholm is an upgrade from western anglo standards. But the lack of consistent targets, combined with the astronomical cost of living, make this city a "close, but no cigar" when compared to eastern Europe.

Bottom line? Don't believe the hype.

...b-b-b-Bonus report!

On a whim, I decided to check out Uppsala on my last day. A small college town 45 minutes north of Stockholm.

Turns out, the blondes I had in mind were hiding here all along.

Cute girls are everywhere here! Those fuckers in Stockholm Jedi mind tricked me. "These aren't the blondes you're looking for.". Yes folks. Uppsala is possibly the real deal, unsung nordic pussy paradise in the north. [Image: tinfoilhat.gif]

The reason I say possibly, is because I have no intel to share with you regarding nightlife. Plus my daygame hours were very limited. After 7pm, the shops closed, and hardly any talent was to be seen. But during the day, goddamn it was it good. You really have to strike surgically here. A late start isn't gonna cut it. That goes for Stockholm as well.

Uppsala city center is a nice compact grid, with 3 or 4 small indoor malls which all sort of run into each other. Dragarsbrungatten and Kungsangsgatten , 2 blocks from the central station, are the go-to streets. I found street hollering more efficient than malls here, despite being really cold.

Sadly I did not have time to exploit my good fortune. The few street approaches I got off went great. Tall fair blushing sweethearts all around. But like my Oslo experience, all had serious boyfriends. Because of the higher boyfriend ratio, more approaches are required in scandi to get the same daygame success I've had elsewhere. Just as any place for running game, luck is a factor. A random number generating system. Which is much of what game amounts to, after figuring out how to do it.

As far as night game goes, I didn't find a happening venue Thursday night in Uppsala, but I also didn't look that hard...it was fucking freezing. I'm sure there's a decent venue that admits non-students, but somebody else will have to chime in on where it is. They've got a rep point from me waiting for them when they do.

Knowing what I know now, I would skip Stockholm as a game destination altogether, and just go straight to Uppsala. I don't know if the night life situation there is any good, so take this with a grain of [Image: hype.gif] for now. If others can confirm or deny, I can see it taking the crown as the Wroclaw of Scandinavia on these forums.

Not directed at CR but do we need a student ID to fully experience Uppsala? Seems like that's the only chance foreigners have to get into the bars.

A student ID and an invite from one of the student Nations.

What do they not have regular bars that any random person can go into?

Sweden sounds alright, but I doubt I'd drop that kind of dough to spend any length of time there, Estonia sounds like a better bet if you're in that region. Thanks for the report though C.R.

Yeah but the nightlife scene is dominated by the Nations. Beers are about €3-5 and shots of Jager even cheaper. Compare that to €8 beers at regular bars and its a no brainer where the students will be at.

So you can't get into the student bars unless you're a student there?

So a visitor would have to rely on daygame? What if you have a friend studying there can they get you in as a guest.

I had to emphasize this and it's a great point. Feminism in Anglo countries vs non-Anglo countries are two different animals. Snarky feminism of the Lindsay West variety doesn't seem to be significant outside the US/UK. Feminism in many other countries just means women want equal access to making money and equal respect and has nothing to do with ball-bashing and fighting gender roles(although Sweden seems to be at the forefront of fighting gender roles).

I'm not sure this is permanent though. Our feminists in the 60s were probably a lot like the non-Anglo feminists now. So in a few decades you may see Jezebel types popping up in Latin America and SE Asia.

Yeah if you have student ID, a current student studying there could get his Nation to get you an invite.

Exactly what I was thinking...modern day feminism in the anglosphere is merely reprimanding men for being men while aiming to confiscate their rights for the sake of bitter ugly women not getting enough attention...exponentially different from the origination of wanting equal access to certain opportunities

The smaller University cities are golden but only if you have that student ID or you'll feel rightly cheated. The student pubs are very stringent about keeping outsiders out since they stand to lose their license if they let in non-students.

When I was 19 y. o. I spent a few weeks in Uppsala doing a Summer school kind of thing. I had no student ID, but since I was a sort of "temporary student", with the help of a few Swedish friends and some official documents, I managed to visit several student nations. There were 13 of them, if I remember correctly.

Each nation was sort of associated with a region of Sweden. I guess the point is that students from all over Sweden come to Uppsala to study, and get to hang out at the nation corresponding to the region they come from. There was no Skåne nation in Uppsala, though, since students from Skåne go study in Lund.

I have fond memories of those parties at the student nations. I remember girls forming a circle on the dancefloor and dancing with their girlfriends, while the middle of the circle was a pile of their handbags. I once made the mistake of trying to walk to the bar through one of those groups, stepped on their handbags, and got pushed violently against the wall. It was funny.

I also remember a bunch of dudes wearing colorful jumpsuits, the color representing their major. Their jumpsuits were covered with patches. Some would wear a white Navy-officer-like cap.

I was there during late August, when the freshmen arrived, so I partied with a bunch of drunk frosh chicks at the "zero tent" (or whatever they called it) next to the Uthgård at Polacksbacken. Good times!!

The problem with Estonia is that it doesn't have a ONS culture, unlike Scandinavia. If you have disposable time, then Estonia seems to be a better option for a trip. But if you have a full time job back at home and cannot take more than 2-3 consecutive weeks off, then Scandinavia has a better chance of paying off.

Why do you think the Anglo countries' feminism has evolved (devolved!) into this?
