Thursday afternoon 18 November at 4 PM, at the restaurant 'Muroa May', a meeting was held. At that meeting the owners of the bars in the Pedro Clisante were invited. Further more, the commander of the Tourist Police (Politur) and the President of the Tourism Department were present.
At this meeting the President of the Tourism Department announced that from 3 December, the policy in the Pedro Clisante will be tightened. From 3 December all the bars have to be closed from street view along the street. The reason is that when you walk along the street you should not be disturbed from the noise of the bars. In addition, women and girls are not allowed to walk alone along the street anymore. If a woman or girl should be alone on the street, and can not prove that she has a job or is an employee, then she is arrested for prostitution. Also, women should not be found alone, but accompanied by a companion in a bar or restaurant, otherwise these women will also be arrested for prostitution and the bar will be closed.
