Germany and Norway force businesses to appoint female board members

The article references that germany is going to require that 30% of board members be women, and it also goes on to say that Norway has already done this and requires 40%. Companies that don't comply face liquidation.

Regulatory insanity. I would increase the size of the board by 30%, keep all of the men on it and fill my board positions with deaf, blind or mute women in order to show that I also hire disabled persons.

Right now they want it to be a voluntary "disclose or explain", but they won't stop there.

EDIT: I see the OP is probably also Canadian, so he probably knew this.

That is non-executive board members. Basically they serve as a consultant.

Having quotas in a "free market" system is IMHO going to lead economies downward.

In Norway, they solved it by bringing in all the business women in Denmark who themselves had places on other boards of directors. The law just increased the cost of doing business since these additional board members will not be able to contribute very much due to their other obligations.

The Feminists march on private business intensifies. Check out this article, I think that by looking at the image that caused the controversy, you will end up with a much more different conclusion than the feminazis.

You can't facepalm hard enough at policies like these.

Let's look at a scenario these policymakers aren't considering: It's almost as if they ASSUME that all board-appointed women choose that lifestyle over family. For many of them that may be true, and well all know that the modern hamster thinks she can be career oriented until 40 and then have kids, but then let's look at the women that actually want kids earlier, let's say 28-35 (which is still old). Okay, so they take maternity leave once they get knocked up, and there's two scenarios there, neither of them good for the bottom line. 1) she takes maternity leave, costing the state a significant sum, and then goes back to work a year later. The government subsidizes her motherly lifestyle by paying her to stay at home with the child, AND the company has to hire someone to temporarily take her place. 2) she opts out of work if she has a supporting husband. Okay, that's great and all, but now her employer spent god knows how much on her annual salary, training, and benefits, only for her to bounce to have a kid, with no long-term commitment or need to return to work.

Multiply both these scenarios times hundreds of thousands and it's not hard to imagine how costly this ridiculous policy will be for these countries.

Liberal socialism. The Democrats will eventually try to push for this in the USA.

Europe is collapsing from feminist socialist liberal policies so they push for more of it.

Why the hell are men not waking up? Men used to charge machine gun nests and go into dark tunnels with a flashlight and a pistol all just to protect their countries (aka their kids) and now they throw it all away for nothing.

When was the last war in Europe, that was not initiated by politics? Very long time ago.

True, but I think that sums up most all people.

It is just frustrating to watch people make such great sacrifices for their families and then support this liberal BS that is destroying our society.

I can't wait for the money that funds this stuff, and the bloated welfare state, to evaporate, which it will as more and more men emigrate from Western Europe, either to far away lands or becoming location independent tax exiles! It would actually lead to a more cohesive society. Immigrants would have to assimilate, women would become more feminine and then perhaps the men would be less likely to leave.

I dont know man, I dont really see men escaping the motherland here in droves.

Most of my friends seem to be quite content with the status quo and say that things arent "that bad".

Oh Im German btw. Personally I think this legislation isnt going far enough. I demand quotas for women in jail. There was also some talk about introducing a tax on sugar and fatty food. And thats just the stuff I actually notice, I dont watch TV and dont follow the news but some things trickle down to me.

This will be in the United States within the next 10 years no doubt. But I am going to take a gamble and say the right/republicans introduce this first as a way of trying to win back women voters from the left/democrats. Big corporations and the media will support it overwhelmingly and will be pass within 1 year of being proposed. The plan will backfire for the republicans and they won't gain any women votes from it and in fact will alienate male voters who will choose not to vote rather than support a party that stabs them in the back.

The Republicans have been pushing for less and less govt. in business. So I don't see them pushing for this.

I understand what you are saying, a last attempt to win women voters back from Democrats. I see Republicans doing something like mandatory life sentences for all men convicted of a crime against any woman to try to win women voters back.

This is the beginning of the end indeed. The inherent immorality of the feminist "see result, claim that result has to be fixed regardless of whether there's any discrimination involved" crusade is just breath-taking. It's hard to believe that any voter would willingly support this. Fuck, if I were a woman, I'd be offended by these lunatics treating me like some kind of child that needs to be saved from the evil patriarchy and devaluing my hard work so that everyone will forever claim that I'm only in management because of quotas.

I haven't been in Canada for some time, so I didn't know that, thanks for the link. Typical Southern Ontario politics right there.

Hopefully socialist Europe will collapse under the weight of these feminist and unrestricted immigration policies in time for the US to see the error of it's ways.

Not holding my breath.

I actually think the really strong marxists WANT all these policies to ruin Europe, so that they can build their communist utopia on its ashes.

Me too because it would be better than this farce, but it would be a great pity. I like many things about Europe, socialism and Western cultural heritage in general, so I am sad to see it vanish just because it contracted a bad case of rabies feminism and committed suicide.

I think it's a good thing that some countries will try this out so that we can learn from previous mistakes. These companies stock prices will serve as great entertainment to watch.
