Alright, so I was looking through the bussines and entrepenuership post for a while now.
Im a sophmore in college majoring in english, I have a niche for the arts. A little about me I believe I am a jack of all trades im good in about any skill but not exceptionally skilled in one. After high school some rough times roll across as some of you guys can relate. Just out of an existential depression and im thinking of the future now.
I cant stand the fact of someone bossing me around and even now working in a fast food restaurant I find it hard and dreadful when my female manager bitches at me. Its something I recently discovered I like things my way.
I have thought of starting my own bussines, something my father has always also wanted to accomplish, he did not because of a number of factors against him.
To cut to the chase I want to know what I should start reading up on to enter this world of business and self management. A little more about me I have a passion for music and just ideas right now would be me starting a nightclub or bar of some sort. Im 19, Also very involved in the arts and im open to whatever you guys suggest in business wise, something to get my wheels turning, and I always say its never to early to start, so what can i do now as a college student to set myself up and be ready some day,all you guys have a vast amount of experience and can really help me shape the life I want and thanks in advance!

The quickest route to starting a business is knowing a field inside and out and entering business in that field. That means sucking it up. By the way, a good grounding in fast food can open the door to most restaurants where broader experience can be gained.

It doesn't sound like business is your passion. It sounds like not taking garbage from bosses is your passion, and business is your perceived ticket out. But if business isn't your passion, it's a brutal road that will tear you to shreds. Your chances of getting somewhere will be difficult. If you have not started a small business by now, I don't think business is your passion.

So how do you overcome not being a good businessman without having the luxury of making 1000 mistakes by the time you're 40? Pick something you like and that you can deal with. Eat, sleep and drink it. Get to know everything about it, inside and out. THEN, and only then, do you start a business.

I think some people have an idea that much of business is showing up and cashing checks. This is not the case. It's a vicious slice of reality, and the world doesn't give a crap if you win or lose. If you don't have a near monomaniacal fixation with winning, you will get devoured. Being great at something first means you've already won, and the deck gets stacked in your favor.

Learn some trades or look up the copywriting/SEO threads. Gain some real skills and do some work on elance or odesk.

I'm guessing that, because you're working in fast food, you took the first job you could get.
Nothing wrong with that, but if you've been there longer than 6 months, look for another more enjoyable job.
There's plenty of jobs where you have a manager, but you report to them weekly or whatever, they're the jobs I don't mind because I'm the same as you...the more time I spend face to face with someone above me in a work environment the more stressed I get.

You should check out into being a promoter. There are a couple of Veterans in the promoting and nightclub field here that you should check out. There's Christian Mcqueen and Lucky Luke.

A couple of things you should do is read the Biography of some great Entrepreneurs. You should read the Biographies of Steve Jobs and Richard Branson to begin with.

As far working for a female boss?
Fuck that.. being there, done that, having a boss is already annoying, let alone a bitchy underpaid female. Repeat after me : Fuck that, .

I'm a college student who began his own Tutoring Business, http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-36504.html , and never have I been happier doing things my way, however I want, whenever I want and dealing with the clients I want, but you have to remember that business is what you can do for people and how you can bring them value. Nobody cares about you, it's about what you can do for them and make their life cooler/better than when they began with you Experience is the best way to learn, period. No matter how much school you get with a business degree, getting in the trenches and doing the dirty work is the only way to do it. Becoming good at your craft is also the best way to go, and you have to love it all the way, or you'll burn out.

Happy Journey man, it gets tough but if you put heart and soul into it, it will be the best thing you do, even better than sex.

Get your MBA with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. It will assist you in learning how to create and run a business. Do residencies as well as learn about running business through different contacts you may have. Take advantage of all your resources.

As far as reading goes, there are a lot of good books out there. How to Get Rich by Felix Dennis and The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco
are my personal favorites. The Lean Startup, The E-Myth Revisited and What Rich People Know and Desperately Want to Keep Secret are also very, very good.

Though I think @Sawyer was overstating the case when he said that if you haven't started a small business by now, business must not be your passion, he is correct in saying that most people's definition of the entrepreneur life - probably your definition as well - is way off the mark.

Yours is a noble goal, but don't operate under false assumptions: if you can't cut it as an employee, there's no way you'll be able to make it as a hustler.
It's perfectly fine if you don't like being bossed around by a jerkoff(who does?), but you need to be able to take it. At a job you eat shit from one or two bosses, as a would-be entrepreneur you'll be eating shit from a lot of people for quite a while. You need a thick skin. You need to be able to withstand extreme pressure.

My advice to you is get rid of your ego. Approach any and every job with a 'student of the game' mentality. If your boss bitches at you, grin and bear it, and do your job as best as it can possibly be done. Never fall into the 'this is beneath me' attitude trap. As long as you work a job you owe it to your boss and to yourself to do the best job you can. It is your duty.

That being said, you should consider the possibility of getting some type of sales job. You can't become a millionaire if you can't sell, in some form or another.
If you spend a year as a salesman - with the 'student of the game' mentality I was telling you about - you will be a changed man. You will get comfortable talking to people, you will have a greater understanding of them, you will become desensitized to rejection. More importantly, you will really understand the most important lesson an entrepreneur needs:Everyone wants something. Find out what it is and give it to them/help them get it. That is the essence of success.

Do not, ever, chase money! That will get you nowhere. Instead, chase other people's needs, and chase the tools and abilities that will help you to fulfill those needs better than anyone else. If you manage that, the money will come to you.
