possible to use blackberry with dirty esn abroad?
11-07-2013, 09:37 PM
I have a blackberry that hasnt been used in a few years and it is probably reported lost or stolen. To be honest i found it a few years ago and i never bothered making the effort to find its owner...yes im a horrible person judge away. Now im planning a trip to south america and i remembered that i still have the phone and i was wondering if it can be activated and used normally with bbm while im in SA (im in the us). Based on what i have read on various forums i just wouldnt be able to activate it with verizon, as it is a verizon phone. This phone hasnt been plugged in since its previous owner which was at least 3 years ago so im pretty clueless..just trying to figure out if it will work abroad.
Please advise blackberry folk. Thank you.

If the IMEI number has been blocked, then it is effectively a brick unless you know someone who can change it for you.

Pretty much the same thing. If that has been blocked by the carrier, then the phone is a brick. You might get lucky though...
