Paully,
Great tip sheet on Japan and dating in Japan, very much appreciated man. I'm very seriously thinking of a short side trip there in early Jan 2011. Tell me, how cold does it get there around that time of the year?

Thanks man.

From what I know of that part of the world in January, it will be freezing. But maybe someone who has specific Japan winter experience can also answer.

Yeah I know it gets cold but how cold, that's what I'd like ot know. And I am not afraid of the cold, after having lived for 16 years in Canada, I think I can handle any cold anywhere in the world save maybe Antartica and Artic cold. LOL

I never insinuated that you couldn't handle the cold.

If you want something more specific, I can provide that too. Asking what the weather is like, i assumed you wanted a general idea.

The info you want:

I'm not trying to be contentious, only trying to help.

I've always wanted to hit up Japan. I know it's hardly a budget destination though. If you were going there for 2 weeks, about how much can you expect to drop, not including airfare?

Forgot about this one, thanks Hydro, as always very thorough in your posts.

Speakeasy, I'm also planning on hitting Nippon in early 2011 and my guestimate is that for 2 weeks, to have a good time, you'd be looking at least 3K, maybe even bring that down to 2.5K even 2K if you're willing to stay in hostels or capsule hotels, which I am not, so for me, I'd be looking at 3K at the bare minimum.
