Tampa question

I've heard Tampa has a lot of really hot women and the guys are not that impressive, unlike Miami, Vegas or LA.
One of my friends recently moved there and says that South Tampa is literally "the best place he's ever been to" for gaming, and that includes European cities.
Says the women are really hot, like to party, outgoing, and most of the guys aren't that competitive (besides some of the gold's gym types). Also, it's warm all year round so they're often dressed provocatively (LA/Vegas can be chilly in winter), and this is only another reason he says to go there, and short flight to Miami.
Any truth in this? Is Tampa the best "bang for your buck" (pun not intended) city when all things are considered?

Tampa is great, but it takes a while to crack the code. It's a big, spread out place. If you wind up in the wrong part of town on the wrong night and at the wrong time of year, you will do poorly.
Once you find your groove, it can be golden.
Do your research and have a plan before you roll in to town. If you're seriously contemplating a visit, there are several of us here that can get you pointed in the right direction.

There also seem to be lots of strip clubs in Tampa, 24 hour liquor stores, porn shops, massage parlors, etc, so it doesn't seem like an uptight city even if it's technically conservative. In many ways, Tampa seems a bit like Vegas (similar sized metro) minus the casinos and high-end nightlife (which is tough to access unless you're willing to drop $100 at the door or know someone important).
Compared to Chicago (where I've lived before), Tampa doesn't seem like too big of a city at all.
Looking at POF, there are some very hot women in Tampa.

There are still casinos, card rooms and dog races in the Tampa area. Strip clubs vary in talent and sketchiness that range from roast beef curtains, caesarian scars and hello kitty tats to higher-end sluts imported in boxes from cargo ships, Vegas, Miami and LA. I would define Tampa as a hustler's paradise. Most people I met had no real jobs, yet a lot of them drove Benzes and Land Rovers. Think Tommy on the 90s show, "Martin." Nobody really knew what he did, yet he did fine.
You are close to the beach and when you get there, your rearview mirror might melt off from the epoxy glue that holds it to your windshield. Get used to tats, tats, and more tats, and then get used to neon-colored outfits and ladies with high heels and short skirts abound. Lots of talent. Many of them are dumb as rocks (a win in my book). My year-long trip was eventful but in the long-term, unsuccessful. My plan was not rock solid. Have a good plan. What do you plan to do there for work?

Tampa is full of thirsty Greek simps. Girls are used to getting on and are really smart anyway. Place is the worst of the worst. STAY AWAY!

I'd prefer LA, Vegas, or Miami, it's sort of the factor of "not being famous" and having to compete with millionaires/celebs in those cities for the top-tier women that has me wondering a bit about Tampa.
Also, those cities are very competitive among other men. Basically, Tampa is appealing because the women are known to be hot and the guys seem like they'd be the white trash bad ass type at best and probably some yuppies in South Tampa.
Lots of Cuban-descent women in Tampa as well, which are some of the best looking Latinas.

I've been to the Tampa area three times in the past five years to visit my parents who have a winter home down there, which, coincidentally is about a ten minute drive from where El Mechanico lives. Overall I really like the Tampa area but you definitely have to pick your neighborhood wisely as its a pretty big place area wise and the places I've been vary from upscale to pretty trashy, such as where my parents live in New Port Richey, driving up the I-95 from Tampa is quite the site.
Emech, looks like I'll be back down there around Xmas again this year.

I only meant that in comparison to LA/Vegas/Miami (cities I would prefer), but the competition is also higher in those cities, especially in LA when you're competing with semi-famous actors or musicians, and the ultra wealthy. I just don't think Tampa is going to be as competitive as those cities, although I'm sure it's still competitive. Cost of living is also a factor, a decent 1 bedroom apt in South Tampa goes for a lot less than it would in Miami Beach, Hollywood, or right on the Vegas Strip (Vegas is cheap when off strip).
Because Tampa is a smaller city, a lot of that "who you knew" in high school can make things more difficult, I'm in a place like that right now. Tampa is also known to attract people from all over the country, possibly more than the larger cities in the midwest.

Tampa is just okay, but you have to work hard to find the hot girls. The men here are incredibly desperate to the point of hilarity. I saw a 45 year old mother of three last night in a bar brushing off 25 year old studs left and right and LAUGHING in their faces. One of them was my boy, an intelligent young attorney at a good firm. You CAN find hot chicks here, but you need to work for it. There are a lot of hogs here, skanks etc. IMO your wingman means 90% of your game because there are so many grenades that will cock block.

another thing, tampa is a drinking town. If you aren't drinking, you aren't fucking, it is that simple. You need to drink to pickup as 95% of ALL activites revolve around getting drunk. Football games, bars, clubs, malls, restaurants, strip clubs, etc are all about getting drunk. whatever you do, do NOT drive after even having a few in this town, the PD here does not fuck around. If you want a data sheet, I can bust one out but you must tell us your race and age so I can tailor it to your lifestyle. I've lived here 11 years, fyi.

There are a few high-end joints in Tampa. Timpano in Hyde Park might qualify for the low end of high.
I'll think of a few more on the Tampa side of the bay and report back as soon as I catch a break.

Tampa has some pretty hot girls. Mostly white and usually in good shape. I'd put it in my top 10 cities in the US

So what is the consensus on a place like PCI?
I also liked crabby bills, Blue Martini and the shopping plaza beside it.
