Laptop: Under USD800 and with a long battery life

Consider the new ASUS Transformer Book T100TA 10.1-Inch Convertible 64Gb
Over 10 hours of battery life, full version of Windows 8.1. Full version of Microsoft Office, detachable screen for tablet use, SD card slot for extra storage.
Depends if you think 10 inches is an acceptable size for a screen.

Lots of teething problems with those - take a look at transformerforums.

I'm currently on a 17" laptop, so 10" would be miniscule. I'd like to stay at 13 minimum if possible.

13" is the minimum for everyday. I might even recommend 14" for guys in computer heavy jobs. Still keep in mind too that a lot of the thinner laptops are only coming with 4gb of ram. That's fine now but down the road it'll slow things down. I recommend ponying up and getting something at least one upgradeable to 8gb for the long haul.

I'm getting a new laptop pretty soon so any advice would be helpful. I'm looking at the cheaper brands such as Acer and Asus, as I've been a Dell man for some time but they are a bit more expensive for no real benefits.

Looking at this: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-ne...6-pdt.html

8gb RAM and 1TB memory for under £400 ($650) seems pretty sweet.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acer-Aspire-Time...43c3ad4336

if you look in the chromeboook brand they have cheap laptops with great processors for basic stuff. and get awesome battery life.

if youre on the road alot and have wifi these are great.

I think they have a couple models with cat ports so you can hardwire youre internet.

Ended up getting refurbished Lenovo Yoga IdeaPad @ USD770.

In retrospect, would've preferred an ultrabook. It's just a tad heavy for the intl playboy.

The screen is delicate as fuck. Not realizing this, a simple pinch from me was enough to crack the screen. Thank God I have the Accidental Damage Protection. Will get it fixed when I have a desk job again.

That said, the computer runs really well. Gets a tad hot, which I dislike, but it's fast as fuck.

A year from now you'll wish you started today
