Might have to do DC for personal side business at the end of the month
Flying into dulles. From dulles to downtown is about $25 per person one way on shuttle bus and there's 2 of us. So that's almost $100 round trip.
I can get a rental from Thursday night to Sunday for $50 total. I plan on staying at Grand Hyatt Washington (1000 H Street) or Capitol Hill Hyatt (400 New Jersey Ave)
Hyatt arlington and Washington Hilton are other options
Is there anywhere I can find cheap or free long term / overnight parking? I want a rental so I can site see, maybe check out Baltimore inn harbor, etc
I dont mind parking near a metro and picking up car when needed

Is there any way you can fly into Reagan National? The metro stops right at the airport and you can easily access downtown D.C. and the immediate suburbs by Metro. There is no need to drive if you fly into Reagan National. Eventually Dulles will also be accessible by metro, but that will take some time.

Parking in DC is tough because it's only 2 hour parking Mon to Fri btw 7am and 7pm. You're good on the streets overnight and weekends, if you can find a spot.
Loke above, fly into DCA if you can. Getting to and from Dulles is terrible, because it's so far away a because one company has a monopoly on all the transportation. The other option is the shuttle bus that runs to as from the West Falls Church metro station. It's $10 ad runs about every half hour.

Grand Hyatt is more central. You can easily walk to White House, for example.

A WashFly Taxi is $60 each way and faster. About ~35 minutes. Do that instead if you have to fly into Dulles. *shiver*
Daily parking in DC is $25-30.
