New song: American Girl

"I was raised by a television."

"Every day is a competition."

"Put your key in my ignition."

"I'm always ready to party."

Is this satire? (serious question)

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

My gym only plays Top 40 / Top 100 so I have to listen to this every time I go to lift. Miley too. (Even worse IMO.) At least when Robin Thicke comes on now I can't help but laugh a little bit.

It seems like most of the songs sung by girls are about partying, getting smashed, being raunchy, living it up like there's no tomorrow, etc. I'd say Ke$ha is the "best" at doing this, with that "trashy white girl rap" stuff she does.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

The video is unwatchable, the music is unlistenable.

How long until she turns into this?

"I'll never say that I'm sorry"

It will be a hit with the tween/teen demographic. It has that poppy over-produced sound that sells these days. Terrible state of affairs.

The year 2063: The grandchildren of the three women in the video, shown suffering the oppression that occurred as the inevitable backlash against the unrestrained female empowerment of their grandmothers' generation, which had nearly destroyed Western civilization by the early decades of the 21st century, allowing Islam to thrive in its place.

First thing I honestly thought: "Why is Mom trying to dress like her daughters?"

Turns out she's 29. She's got Post-Wall Face.

As with all of these 'Girl Power Anthems', it was written by six people, five of them men.

I wonder whether a Perfect Storm of cultural decadence, economic collapse, governance failure and foreign conflict for the USA is coming.

If it ruins the basically wonderful USA, I hope it doesn't kill off the rest of humanity in the process.

She's got a bit of the Sarah Jessica Parker horseface.

So sick of this waste pop music that doesn't have cool chord progressions.. it's so boring and monotonous so that DJs can play it.

We are definitely in a low point for pop music.

This is the soundtrack of the culture that is so boring and blue-pill.

It's boring people from NJ and Long Island coming in to party in NYC on the weekend with their conformist bland style and dull souls, venting their pent up aggression from the week's mundane life. Guys hoping to get lucky, girls hoping to get pictures for their social media. Snooky girls that have attitudes like men and ugly faces.

It's the corn-syrup of music- there's nothing cool about it at all.

McKee is the mind behind the lyrics to such hits as Katy Perry's "California Gurls" and Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me." It must pain her that talentless, yet shapely, singers are appropriating her creative genius for their benefit.

The thing is, she had her shot at fame before. She just didn't blow up. Here she is, at 19, on Jimmy Kimmel.

It's funny to see the transition her music has undergone. At 19, "There's somebody waiting for me out in the rain." At 29, "I got a plan that I'm gonna dominate. And I don't need any man to be gettin' in my way."

That's the shit that pisses me off. From an American Songwriter article with the Grandma in question on this track:

Quote:Quote:

Who wrote what among your co-writers?

Ollie wrote the original chords that inspired the first version of the song, I had the title I had been holding onto for a while, Jon Asher and I came up with the melody of the first line of the chorus together that ended up making the second draft of the song. Jacknife Lee had this awesome track and I brought back that original melody and wrote all of the rest of the top line squirreled in the corner by myself. He was playing some chords and I was like, “What if we did something like ‘Jessie’s Girl’ for the verse?”

Yeah, you 'don't need no man' you dumb cow.

I don't understand, why is she thin? [Image: huh.gif]

She has a better ass than all the other white girl popstars.

What if you fabricated another one of these pop stars, going exactly according to formula, except for one thing: you made the lyrics about pleasing her man, being feminine, modest and kind. Would it still succeed?

I think so. The lyrics seem almost irrelevant.

I brought this up in my RoK article, but we have all the comforts we could ever hope for at our fingertips. We have access to the complete works of man kind in our pockets. We have the technology and opportunity to do anything we set our minds to and yet the path taken is that of least resistance.

All the great leaps in science, medicine, technology, philosophy are completely overshadowed by pleasure seeking and behavior that nets group acceptance.

This weekend I heard a lot of the "what would you do if you had a million dollars" type conversation. Nearly everyone just wanted to sit on their ass all day and do absolutely nothing of value. Most people are like this, they are perfectly fine with having a 9-5 job and the comfort of the same friends at the same bar. We here tend to be different, but we still base our lives around seeking pleasure (and somewhat group/societal acceptance), there are a handful of guys who strive for something more, but the majority just want to have enough money so they can chase girls and live a comfortable lifestyle.

When it comes down to it I really only want freedom and the ability to get with hot girls. If I had my 'million' I would travel the world, learn various crafts, read books and eat good food.

Is there something wrong with purely pleasure seeking, consuming more than we create?

I imagine when encyclopedias became commonplace that great men of the time postulated similar thoughts

"We have all the knowledge of history available in a few books, and with the advent of steam trains and boats, anything is possible"

While there has evidently been progression since then, it is only ever a select few - everyone else just sits around and does fuck all for their entire lives

Here's what really struck me about the video, and why I can't merely shake my head bemoaning the state of affairs so perfectly reflected in it (though I do that too!)

The creatures depicted in this video are the most uniquely privileged and powerful ones that ever walked the earth. No emperor of former times compares. This is a spectacular reality that must be acknowledged and regarded with all appropriate awe.

Far from reflecting America's decline, it is the production of a culture at the height of its energies and intensities. The ferocity of its demands for conformity in every frame is unstoppable. That doesn't mean that it's not deplorable in almost every particular, but this has nothing to do with decline.

I thought, it would be good to show this to some Indonesian villagers... except that you don't need to because they've already seen it!!

When she says "I'm taking over the world", it's as literally truthful as any line could possibly be.

same old shit, sixes and sevens Shaft...
