Kid wins contest multiple times so library director says:

“Other kids quit because they can’t keep up,” Marie Gandron said, adding that she considered changing the rules of the contest so prizes are given to children whose names are pulled out of a hat instead of reading the most books.

The US was never a meritocracy. It helped that there are always those few "odd balls" that are GPA monsters but other than that, the majority of the populace will never amount to anything.

I always got annoyed at the challenge 24 kids who could figure that stuff out in 10 seconds or less. I hated that game with a passion.

Typical new age "everybody should get a ribbon" bullshit. The kid is winning let him win. If its becoming a problem then "retire" the award by naming it after him and then letting a bunch of new kids try and win the 'Tyler Weaver Reading Award'; simple solution if these administrators are not PC losers.

The response should be to tell the rest of the kids to try harder not think of ways to make it easier for them. If he is at a extreme elite level then once again, retire him and give him his praise.

I remember when I ran track and did meets our old coach wouldn't let us get ribbons if we finished out of the podium. "You earn the ribbons, if we don't place, we have to practice harder and I have to teach you guys better". He would collect them from the meet organizers and throw them away lol. He got in a lot of shit for that and it got to the point where the school forced him out after 2 years but after he left we as a team were way better and finished on the podium in all the important races (100,200,400,Relay,1500) and 3rd overall as a school, best ever finish.

Some loser stiff and a new dyke coach got all the credit that year we finished 3rd but it was all the old coach's hard work. He was a old school, European trained Jamaican guy, didn't take shit from nobody.

First of all, it's a librarian making this decision. I'm not sure if you're aware of the typical librarian personality, but it's definitely not a type-a competitive personality.

Second, didn't this country elect a president because he was "one of us" (AKA a c-student)?
