Anti- Homosexual propaganda exaggerated in Russia?

Lately there has been a lot of stuff going around in the media since Putin unleashed his anti homosexual campaign. The Western media has really tried to give us the picture that the situation for homosexuals in Russia is worse than ever before. Also the Russian propaganda machinery has done their best to make us belive that homosexuals are not accepted in Russia. My own point of view is quite different.

I've spent several months in Russia during this year and I must say that I haven't seen so many homosexuals in public in any country before.
I've been living the last months here in Ekaterinburg and last night they celebrated their 290 year anniversary of this city. Since a bunch of lesbians belong to my so called social circle here I ended up last night walking through the famous "Lesbian park". And I must admit I was surprised to see how many lesbians were making out and hanging out at this place. If I've understood things right it's illegal for gays and lesbians to make out in public but they weren't hiding anything. It started to rain like hell and a lot of cops showed up and wanted everybody to leave the city centre so they could clean up the mess caused by the cebrations. These cops didn't give a shit about these lesbians making out in front of them.

I've seen the same things happening in parks and in the streets and nobody gives a fuck. Maybe all this Russian anti-homosexual propaganda which gets a lot attention in media is just exaggerated. Absolutley nobody seem to give a fuck.

Another interesting notification is that these Russian lesbians seems to be the ugliest girls on the block. They cut their hair short and wear men clothes and look like proper nazi-feminists. I started to wonder if these girls becomes lesbians only because they can't find any guys who want them?
I have never seen a hot lesbian in Russia. But that's another story....

Most of the anti-Russian propaganda about the new law is a bunch of shit. As far as I understand the "anti-Gay" law, it only bans gay and lesbian propaganda to minors which, in my opinion, is a good thing.

I definitely believe that it is being exaggerated. To preface this situation, take a look at the laws in some other countries regarding homosexuality. In many nations homosexuality is illegal and individuals can face prison time, and in other countries the death penalty.

Russia on the other hand doesn't seem to be too harsh with their laws. In fact, like you pointed out, they only seem to target the "marketing" (maybe not the best term) of homosexuality. I believe that the initial backlash from Russian authorities came after a homosexual couple was discussing homosexuality with a youth group or something like that. With that said, I don't think it's all that bad, they just don't want gays parading around their streets and on their televisions.

Yeah it's largely a non-issue here, it's not like there are 'gays prohibited' posters around, the law is to prevent 'gay propaganda' directed towards minors. Contrast that with the west where the gay lobby is trying hard to monitor speech and promote their 'lifestyle' to kids in schools - e.g:

But of course the western press is all over this due to their repressive and misguided continual white knighting about 'gay rights'.

They are even talking about pushing the US to boycott the Sochi Olympics over this (!).

Seriously? Not long ago I saw a picture floating around on Facebook that had two Swedish guys kissing in front of the Vasily cathedral in Moscow. On the top of the cathedral they had a rainbow flag waving. The makers of this picture demanded that the Swedish embassy in Moscow should switch the Swedish flag outside the embassy to the Rainbow flag while a Pride parade were taking place either in Stockholm or Moscow. Probably Stockholm..

Also I read in the Swedish newspapers that a bunch of sportsmen threatened to boycott the ongoing Athletics world championship in Moscow because of these newly established gaylaws.

That Sweden is a pro-homosexual country is no news to me, but I didn't know that US is becoming pro-homo also?
Why has it become that it's almost unacceptable to not be 100% pro-homo these days?

Here in Argentina the LGTB main organization did a manifestation in front of the Russian Embassy by making out in public. The media covered, the comon people could care less about it.

The U.S. is officially nuts -- and transitioning into a socialist welfare state that specializes in social engineering. This is one of the reasons that I am moving offshore, hopefully sometime next year.

Just today, Governor "Moonbeam" Jerry Brown just signed a law that allows schoolchildren to choose whichever restroom and locker room they want to use:

I am so glad that this is not a politically correct forum. [Image: banana.gif]

Wtf? This remind me of an article I read about a kindergarten in Sweden where they are not allowed to divide children into "he's or she's". They are calling everybody to "it" . Otherwise it would be gender discrimination.

On top of that they dressed boys in pink clothes and gave them dolls to play with, meanwhile they dressed girls in blue clothes and gave them tractors and machines to play with. Just so the children can grow up without "gender brainwashing" and choose their own path in life.
Jesus fucking chirst.. What's the next step?

Reminds me of a joke they have in eastern europe :

"A man goes to visit a friend, sees a row of clocks on the wall, each seemingly moving at a different pace, all labeled with country names.
"Why the clocks?"
Friend replies that each time a gay person is born in a country the clock moves forward.
"So where's the Swedish one?"
"Oh, it was moving so fast we placed it as a ventilator in the toilet."
