gclid - What is the gclid parameter appended to my Google URLs?

inShare

Gclid is a globally unique tracking parameter (Google Click Identifier) used by Google to pass information back and forth between Google AdWords and Google Analytics. If you enable URL auto tagging in Google AdWords, Google will append a unique ?gclid parameter on your destination URLs at run-time. Because it is a redirect, you won't see any gclid parameters on your ad words text ad destination url's, but it will show up in your Web server log files. Auto tagging was introduced in 2004 and is on by default in any Google AdWords accounts.

The gclid parameter enables data sharing between Google Analytics and Google AdWords. For example, the "Traffic Sources" feature in Google Analytics to segment your campaigns based on ad text and other PPC-related campaign metrics and dimensions, relies on gclid.

Don't.
Just don't.

Let's say you are in a bad situation and you need to leave town quickly. Going to a place with camera's amd security to get you cash stash is a bad idea.
Who says you'll even have enough time to get there.

I would never use a service to do this. What I've been thinking about doing is going and stashing some silver and gold out in the middle of nowhere where no one would ever look or go. Only I would know about it and after selling the gold and silver I would have enough money to get a one way plane ticket and pay for like 6 months of living expenses abroad. It would need to be at least $6,000 to $10,000 once liquidated.

Also you should keep in mind that all the gold people are buying it's in there possession. It's stored in a vault half way around the world.
How easy would it be for that country's government to raid the gold vaults and claim it as their own.
You hear talk of governments raiding the banks for money all the time. It's only a matter of time before it becomes a reality.

How are you going to get to that safety deposit box when the doors to the bank are closed and and armored vehicle is sitting in front of it, with a bunch of HS guys manning the turrets? If you want your money secure, bury it in a tube. Put in several denominations and some gold. In our lifetimes we'll see:

1. The gov't making a run on the banks.
2. Closed borders.

I'd bury some in the Caribbean and hope to slip through the blockage when the screws tighten. Those with enough money and foresight will already be beyond the borders, or choose to fight it out, with imaginary guns.

Can some of the financial ninjas on here chime in? How do you prepare for having to "disappear" at a moments notice? How do you safely stash significant some of cash?

The risk with owning gold for this purpose is that the gov't can declare it illegal to own/buy/sell gold. Then you're stuck. Also, when SHTF, gold is the last thing on people's mind.

How much cash do you really need to put away anyway? If you're talking about 4 digits to low 5 digits then just buy a $600 Costco safe and stash it there. Those safes are 500+ lbs so you don't really have to even bolt it to the ground unless you're very security minded.

Anything more than that, you should probably talk to an estate planner or some sort of advisor. From my research it involves setting up accounts in countries that don't have tax treaties with the US.

The best way out is to have a second identity ready to go. Have a foreign bank account in different name that you can access over the internet. A stash somewhere remote with a new ID,anonymous ATM card , some cash, gold. Know ahead how would leave the country if needed to! All can be done fairly easy.

@Wayout your idea is a good start.
If you were going to go with the whole new identity and have money in a foreign country you would need to make sure that every time you accessed anything about the new identity that it was done from an IP not connected to you in any way.
It's very easy to see where you've gone once someone has your IP. Therefore your home country's gov't could freeze the bank account in your new identity if you're on the run.
