Coping With Depression

Coping With Depression

I'm at the end of my life. My career is completely fucked. I have no family. I haven't had a relationship in a long time and I'm not interested in overweight divorced grandmothers. The various social outlets I had have all gone down the progressive rabbit hole, so I live in isolation. Not just the lack of sex, but the lack of physical intimacy is really getting to me. It's really tough. Nobody to talk to anymore.

Yes, I lift. I'm getting noticeably stronger. I don't get a rush from it unlike many people.

Every day I think about calling it quits.

The most important thing I have done for depression is a good lifting routine. If I don't lift I get depressed... So I lift the fucking weights.

I got my diet in check this year also, feeling great.

I get down every winter, added full spectrum lights to my apartment last winter.

I'm on an antidepressant (Wellbutrin) but I take it as a mild ADHD treatment and only since I went back to school in September. My depression was already in check however so can't speak on antidepressant effects. I will say if you must take medication try this first. It acts on dopamine and noripinephrine (hence mild ADHD effects, I can't take Adderall/amphetamines) and as a result has far less side effects (such as limp dick) than an SSRI. Its an NDRI.

For what it's worth, being a mentor may help. You've experienced much of life, and like others have mentioned, there's a great benefit to helping others. Really this is something many of the guys on here should be pursuing. Now more than ever do young men need mentorship. It really does feel good when you get to help some young bucks out. I do this through a boxing program I helped set up with the blessing of the local city government. It's like a real-life opportunity to tell the young version of yourself all the things you know now, in a way you know they'd be receptive to it.

Civilize the mind but make savage the body.

In modern American society, that's not really an option. Single old men are viewed with great suspicion in America these days.

To a point, but I think with proper delivery young men can recognize a good message. Be matter of fact. I think it's worth a shot at least.

Get help. Seek out a good male therapist. Seek out a support group. Go to church. Get involved in jiu jitsu or any type of physical activity that you can improve yourself and has a social aspect. Get involved in a mentoring program. Dont give up. One day this depressive episode will be one of your greatest assets.

There is no help for men these days. A broken man is to be disposed of. Therapists are now deeply indoctrinated in feminist theory. Churches are as bad, they are all anti-male and anti-marriage to one degree of another. Just listen an analyse what is really being said in the sermons, sometimes it is subtle, sometimes not. In any case, fault always lies with the men, women are innocent.

Physical activities can be good, but some are totally dominated by feminist cunts. Been there, done that. Stay away from gyms that have grunt detectors.

Mentoring? Great way to be accused of being a sexual predator if you are a man. Single men are looked at with great suspicion in today's society.

I would love to find a place to belong, but I'm an outsider wherever I go.

I would say 90% of churches are infiltrated (maybe higher) but there ARE still good ones out there, I don't know if any members have experience with churches in your area but I got a PM a long time ago of a list of non-Jew/leftist churches in my state.

The real world is isnt the internet and is much more beautiful than accepting than you imagine. Most people are willing to help you if you ask. I was afraid and depressed too at one point. It takes courage and willingness to ask for help. Theres a way out and those who have been through it are for the most part willing to show you that way.

All I can add here is get help. A good friend of mine was suffering from depression for nearly a year before he went to seek professional help. When the seasons changed (November-March), it would get much worse. He is much better now, due to some huge life changes (new city, new job, picked up a new hobby etc).

Why do you pop in here spreading misery? Why do you talk about your life in such and black and white terms? Why don't you change the way you talk about yourself? Do you think anyone will be able to help you when you start out like that?
