Understanding The Forum Takes Time

After two years of dipping in and out of RVF life I'm just beginning to understand what's going on here. For example, I didn't really know what trolling was or that we're supposed to be beta-bromancing each other and embracing the big brother troll police. But after reading the thread about senior member banning and being called out for some mini-meltdowns I'm beginning to see how I've personally been out of line on several occasions simply because I did not understand RVF communal procedure. So, I think I'll slow down and read more forum material before posting "controversial," attention seeking perspectives. One thing I can suggest to newbies and part-timers is that before going off on someone take a good look at their previous posts and threads. You may find that you are about to go off on a cool dude and this will put the breaks on an unjust attack. As Roosh says "think hard before posting (it's forever) and don't be a dick." Easier said than done. Knowledge is power. Understanding the forum takes time. Move slow. Be methodical. READ the forum for DETAIL. Build community and goodwill.

Yes, I was reading Roosh's "Be Beta on the Forum" thread and realized my tone and style haven't been the best. He suggested starting a blog if you want to rant or engage in political posturing so that's what I'll do. I think he's basically saying build bridges don't burn them. I'm just not that familiar with internet lingo and content so that's been part of my lack of understanding of what RVF is about. It wasn't really resonating with me that this is a communal forum not a blog space for personal ranting. It's a space for living and learning about how sex happens and money is made (and saved). I think? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
