Controversial Study Finds Men Know More About The News Than Women

Check out this article about how men are more news-savvy than women

Of course, since this study suggests that men know much more about the news in the world, it must be bunk.

Notice the "reporter" immediately says it cannot be true. So much for objective reporting.

Comments are a mixed bag, but one "man" dropped this:

Women could have risen up at any time in the "patriarchy" and killed, decimated, and subjugated the poor bastards.

Nothing stopping them.

Reasons for the findings, Curran theorizes, are that women still do the bulk of the work at home so have less time to consume news, and that television continues to reflect public life as being a male world.

How about the fact that women generally are not interested or care in news that doesn't effect their lives directly.

That's one of the lamest rationalizations I've ever heard. While women are doing "the bulk of the work at home" men aren't feverishly devouring news stories, they're doing the "bulk of the work" at...work!

Strangely, women still manage to keep up to date with Ellen, or Dr Phil despite their never ending workload of "work" at home.

Most women, even supposedly educated ones, are astonishingly ignorant of current events, politics, economics, geography, history, science, and anything else that might bear on making decisions in public life

This was common sense before the 20th century, and in their wisdom our ancestors kept women out of a direct role in public life for this reason among others.

Women make time for the kind of tv they like. If they liked the news, they'd carve out time to watch it. They take in plenty of daytime/night soaps, reality shows, etc.
