I had a date yesterday and normally I'll do a quick workout to get pumped up but for some reason thought maybe there's something better I could be doing. A quick google search came up with this:

The routine is this (repeat 4 times):

"Pull-ups
Do three standard pull-ups. Pause at the top of the third rep, keeping your chin above the bar. Hold for 10 seconds, then lower your body and do three more reps.

Push-ups
Do four standard push-ups. Keep your abs tight and your back straight. On the fourth rep, lower your body until your chest is an inch off the floor and hold for 20 seconds. After the hold, do four more push-ups.

Body-Weight Squats
Keep your back straight and bend your knees until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Push up through your heels. That's one. Do five. Pause in the low position of the fifth rep. Hold for 30 seconds, then do five more squats.

Hanging Knee Raises
Jump up and grab a bar with an underhand grip. Keep your arms and back straight and raise your knees to your chest. Do six reps. Pause at the top of the sixth rep and keep your knees close to your chest. Hold for 40 seconds, then do six more."

This actually worked out quite well for me. I was totally pumped and my date noticed and commented on it and I am far from looking like a gym rat so I thought I'd share this.

Anyone else have quick and simple pumping up routines?

I don't know if this works, but I sure wish that fatties could produce the same effect with just 5 minutes of makeup!

Muscles do swell up a bit after you work them but the only group worth working out to see instant feedback from would be your arms. A lot of girls favorite body part on a man is actually his forearms and they love that veiny look.

Doing some wrist/bicep curls would be your best bet.

I recommend lifting to be ripped and not look ripped. If your goal is to impress 99% of the girls out there, with only 6 months of training you're already there. Most girls thought i was 'too big' and on gear after about 1 year of training..needless to say i wasn't big at all. But if your goal is just to get a pump going before a date, i think your best bet would be weighted pullups supersetted with pushups, this should give you a nice pump in most of your upper body. Doing squats and leg raises will be counter productive since it will drive the blood in your lower body, where it's hardly noticeable.

I'll do pushups sometimes to get a quick pump before going out, It hypes me and gets the chest feeling awoke. More mental than anything though and it's not good to have that mindset actually in the gym.

I try to always do 4-6 sets of 21 pushups and 12 chair dips before going out while getting ready after the shower (even if I trained that day).
Makes me be in a "going out mood" and awake, and if I'm not training regularly (as when I'm travelling, or partying a lot during weekdays) it helps to maintain at least some muscle groups in shape.

I used to try and get a pump on before hitting up nightclubs. This is an effective tactic to be sure.

Hit the gym heavy? Notice how swole you look for a few hours? Notice the next day it's gone - your real gains (actual lifting program over time) take a long time to accumulate.

You can sort of get the same effect from a little work out like the one listed above - you're just bringing in more water and blood into your muscles temporarily, but hey, the effect is real.
