Starting a blog

A .com domain is $3 a year for the first year, and $9 a year afterwards in Australia.

General hosting can be done for as little as $4 a month, or $48 a year.

A gmail account is free.

A $51 outlay, that's four or five scotch and cokes in a bar, a mild night out.

That's for one years blogging, and I agree it has more chance of failure than success, but failing provides many more lessons for future success than no action does.

If you can't forego one night out to attempt this, you're probably not in the right mindset to be heading down this path.

I don't know how to put this any other way - I don't have any money.

Just because I don't have money, doesn't mean I don't know how to live. If anything, I'm probably more adept than most, as I need far less to be happy and "live well." Speaking of, I need to get a few posts up.

I'm interested to hear more about your low income lifestyle. I've lived on very little before as well.

I have a list of 75k prior customers in a niche from a website that folded -- self improvement / health improvement. what would you do? clickbank does not allow specifically to do email blasts I think, but my thinking would be to create a review site / blog / success story blog and then funnel to the site as a new offer to previous customers.. any ideas? best way to execute? thanks

check out Jeff walkers Product launch formula youre sitting on a goldmine right there.

@topic making money from a blog is not easy you have to get alot of traffic and even then its hard. adsense sucks, affiliate links can get you some money but best bet would be to create and market your own product on your blog. cut out the middleman.

Good commentary, gentlemen! There are some good resources out there for launching your self-hosted Wordpress blogs. A great "getting started" tutorial is on http://www.michaelhyatt.com. He has a step-by-step tutorial for setting a blog up in 20 minutes (on Bluehost). It works too! My wife set up a blog in 20 minutes for her wedding floral business last night.

There are some deals through the Michael Hyatt website to get going for around $3.95/month, but you do have to commit to 36 months and pay up front for it. You can take a 12 month plan, and the cost is $5.95/month (paid up front). I am sure this is one of many resources out there and not an advertisement for Michael Hyatt.

I going to launch a blog too, but I need to wait until payday. I am already starting articles for it and want to have a little stash before I launch.
