Porn the libido killer?

Some of you may have read one of Roosh's older blog posts entitled "Jerk Off Management 101", which provided some interesting insights and observations, on something that I hadn't really given much thought too. Recently I stumbled upon a post on Entropy's site (which is good BTW), where he brings up the subject of porn/masturbation's effects on one's sex drive. He has a link to an article which takes this theory a step farther and suggests that porn usage can make a person anti-social, depressed, and increase social anxiety.

The article entitled: "Was the cowardly lion just masturbating too much?" [Image: tard.gif]

I've been trying to ween myself off porn recently, I know it's kind off an awkward subject for guys to talk about, but I think it can be a problem for some. My older brother, who is 9 years older, showed me porno mags for the first time when I was like 5 years old and I was stealing them from the store by the time I was 10. Internet porn got huge a couple years later, and since then looking at porn has been the norm, but recently I am starting to question it's possible negative affects.

This is really weird, I have been experimenting with this lately and I have to agree with the article. Try abstaining from masturbation for 8 days and you can feel what horniness truly means.

But actually I feel it is not just porn, but masturbation in itself that makes me more anti-social and introvert. Try and google post orgasmic illness syndrome, apparently a lot of people suffer from a lowered state after orgasm. But then again, if I don't have porn my urge to spankin the monkey isn't really that powerful at all.

I have also noticed the periods of my life where I didn't have access to porn (like when travelling long term) were the times of my life where I was at my peak mack-level.

I bet a lot the users have noticed something similar.

Yeah I hear you man, I am trying to balance not jerking too much to increase my motivation to approach women and get laid, but at the same time if I go too long I get fucking stir crazy and want to fuck so bad. One thing about porn at least for me, is that if you are looking at the high quality hardcore sites like (Bang Bros., Reality Kings, Naughty America, etc.) the women are pretty much all 9's and 10's, which makes me only want to fuck 9's and 10's. In a perfect world I would only be fucking women that hot, but I live in a small town with a disproportionate amount of ugly women, so I got to deal with reality and take what I can get (mostly 6's and 7's). It's hard to not look at porn for me, but when I do I am mostly looking at amateur, mature, and BBW these days.

I was into porn most my life then quit for about three years and started again six months ago and soon will be quitting for good.

For me it is just not worth it, I have read enough enough literature that is against it to take my sex drive elsewhere.

Yeah exactly. I stopped watching commercial porn because it looks so fake, especially brazzers. So I just watch amateur (which can be fake too but not as much as brazzers)

I actually think I do better with women if I'd whacked off that day or the day before. I am more relaxed, give off more of that I-dont-care vibe instead of the I-need-to-blow-my-load-off vibe.

It's not porn/masturbation that makes you antisocial and anxious, its too much time on the internet.

I don't believe changing masturbation habits would have any long-term hormonal effect. Same as building muscles or using drugs, your body is used to some routine which maintains the hormone balance. The basic rule there is that changing the routine once will produce only temporary effect. Meaning if you used to masturbate three times a day and then cut it off completely, you'll definitely feel more urge and energy the following week or two because of hormonal imbalance (your body produces more hormones which stay). However it won't last long - after some time your body will generate less hormones, and you'll end up being on the same level as you were before.

However there may be another issue - for example, if getting a pussy becomes the only way you can get off, the value of the pussy for you would go up significantly - meaning you'd be ready to spend more time and effort to get it. This, however, is individual thing - personally I'd consider such a change a drawback, but for some people I can see it to be beneficial.
