Several years ago, POF was my go-to for easy bangs. Lately, the quality of women seems to have taken a dive. The last couple of times I tried messaging the few decent girls that I could find in my target demographic, I got 'nothin.

Maybe my profile was stale and too many chicks had seen it already, maybe it shows on your profile how long you've been a member (I've never looked or noticed) and the length of time I've been on there is killing my game.

My guess is that this is just a response to a lot of complaints from women across the board. Both from young women who don't want messages from guys way older than them and from 40 year old women who get no messages. Few young women will list in their profile that want to date guys 10+ years older(not in America anyway), and guys ignore this and message them anyway, and then they get sick of it alongside the tons of lame, beta and crude emails. And I guarantee you 99% of these older guys ain't George Clooneys. More like the type of fat, balding dudes you see walking around Soi Cowboy in Bangkok. Like Westerncancer mentioned above, this was most likely a business move more than some personal crusade. Just like with nightclubs, you lose the women, you lose the guys. They have to keep the women happy or be out of business. Just the way it is. Whatever. Go hang out on a college campus and day game if you wanna get at them.

Yup. This is what female privilege looks like: men are prevented from even communicating with younger women, and why?

To protect girls POF accounts from getting too many messages.

Meanwhile 80% of the guys on there get virtually no messages, but the site ain't about to help them out.

What's utterly idiotic is the fact that the site *already* allows you to prevent people from messaging you outside your specified age bracket. Let me say it again - girls on POF can already set an age limit of 14 years plus their age to email them if they want to.

Implicitly "Markus" is admitting that most girls are either too stupid to use the site's customized options or that even girls open to seeing older dudes should be prevented from doing so, despite everyone being of legal adult age.

This isn't a problem he can expect to fix though. Chasing off the older men on the site won't get these women more attention, it'll get them even less. I can see him addressing the complaints of the younger women that are getting unwanted attention from older men, or getting rude/perverted messages in general. I'm in my 50's and women especially in their early 20s do not generally prefer men over 45. The standards are so strict when people say "older" they mean 5-8 years and think it's "a lot."

My very good-looking, 30 YO and tall guitarist just got blown out by an 18-year old who told him he was too old.

A lot of the time I've become sort of invisible to them. It's pretty obvious and objective. It might be way different if I was famous and 6'3". I'm 5'9". Things are a lot better once they're 30 as they start to panic about spinsterhood.

My skin is pretty good so if I dye my hair carefully I could pass for about 40. But if I let the grey grow out, there is a real obvious negative difference in the number of 20-somethings that check me out.

While it may stop 50 year olds from messaging 18 year olds, at the end of the day, he is doing those guys a favour. The chance of getting a positive response in such a scenario is pretty much zero, he just saving the 50 yer old hours of unnecessary frustration. There are better ways for guys that age to meet women 20+ years younger.

If you are 35 and want to message 18 year olds just drop your age by a few years. If you are over 30 and putting in your real age on pof, you are doing yourself a disservice, if you are looking to hook up with 18-19 year olds.

About 3-4 weeks ago I changed around my profile a bit, dropping my age 3 or 4 years, increasing my income way above what I make, and included a few comments like, "I know how to make a woman happy," something ambivalent that it could either be from my wallet or my enormous penis. Probably getting between double and triple response rate from under 25.

I have dates tuesday through saturday this week, and I am supposed to have a 3 some with (2) 19 year olds over the weekend. It's never been like this for me before.

Its probably somewhat location dependent as well but where I am from I am literally batting 0/50 in messaging 18/19 year olds. Im 29 years old (listed my honest age) and am muscular etc.

I'm about to turn 37. While 20-something girls are hardly out of reach for me, I'm under no illusion that this is a situation that will continue forever. Women have till mid 35 at the latest to lock a guy down. Men can play the game a bit longer but I don't think it's going to go much past 40 for most of us unless we have some kind of fame, ostentatious wealth or move to Cambodia.

Ideally, I'd like to lock down a girl in the 27-30 year range by the time I'm 40. Hopefully a feminine, non-American girl that is aging well and fit and can look good still at 40.
