I would be willing to bet money that she never makes it to Italy. 8 years of art school and she's a waitress? Probably wouldn't know how to save money if her life depended on it. As Gmac mentioned, that won't even cover her air fare, let alone lodging, meals, and any other travel expenses.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say:
Shoes, girl's trip to Vegas, and a new handbag.
This guy would have been better off lighting up a Montecristo with that cash.
Oh, she’ll make it to Italy alright, even while making terrible financial decisions along the way. How, you ask? Because there are just so many nice, helpful guys in this world!
1. Most likely, this waitress was already receiving much larger tips than her male coworkers. When you add up all the extra $5s, $10s, and $20s from all these big-hearted guys, you’ll probably get far more than $1000 over the course of a year. In fact, some on this thread have stated that they too would drop large sums of money given the opportunity.
2. Once in Europe, she’ll have plenty of kind men from Couchsurfing insist on having her stay over rather than book a hotel, after which they will guide her through the city and treat her to the finest dining.
3. She’ll have plenty of connections around town through her 1000+ helpful male friends on Facebook.
4. If she wants to hitchhike across Europe (and many women are comfortable doing this), helpful men will swerve to the side of the road before she can even get her hand raised.
Funny new trend: Men are so much more open to picking up single female hitchhikers that some couples will keep the boyfriend hidden until a person offers the woman a ride, after which she’ll say yes and call her boyfriend over.
5. The nicest guy of them all will marry this woman after she’s ridden the international cock carousel and take care of those nasty student loans of hers… and probably buy her a car to boot.
