If its the tingling feeling, don't fret. It is perfectly normal, and not harmful. In fact, it is your body's way of telling you that you got a sufficient dosage. I feel it really helps my workouts when I cycle it in.

I use it, it's good stuff.
2 grams a day should be just fine.

It's nowhere near as effective as creatine (I take both), but I think I can feel it helping in the high rep ranges a bit. I take it regardless because it's a great all around health & wellness supplement in addition to it's potential performance benefits.

If the side effects you were referring to were pins and needles, just know that they don't mean anything. Some people get it, some people don't, some people get it only sometimes...

Also of importance; beta-alanine takes a few weeks of consistent daily use to buffer up carnosine levels in your muscle tissue. Give it a month or so to kick in full force.

Let me know if they come up with an Alpha Alanine and I may consider trying it.

I've used it but I don't find there's much of an endurance improvement if you're already taking 5g Creatine and 2g L-Citrulline daily. Though there is evidence it improves muscle gain and fat loss http://kulturystyka.sklep.pl/inne/beta_a...efekty.pdf
