Advice for the college kid

I just moved into a new place - centrally located, very inexpensive. My first years of college I lived WAY beyond my means - right until new years. Then I realized how fucked I was.
I have now gotten a better job, cheaper place, and have now brought a crushing debt down to the 'quite annoying' level.
I have no furniture or appliances, and I sleep on an air mattress at the moment. I have made serious financial progress the past six months - my bank advisor thinks i did a great job turning things around.
I'm wondering if I should take a month's break for all the saving and put the money in to make turn the new place into "my place" - i mean set it up so it's comfy, and I'm satisfied with the way it is.
Or should I postpone and keep on saving?

To bring someone over, since this is a game forum, you must to be comfortable with your situation. Are you? If you don't, start to do something about at least your bedroom and the cooking area.
Deixa que essa fase é passageira, amanhã será melhor você vai ver a cidade inteira seu samba saber de cor!

How much longer until you pay off your debt?
Or you can spread out the furniture purchases over 3-4 months so you can still make debt payments.

depends on how much debt u have and the time table for which u will pay it off.
if ur debt is to be paid off soon id just continue to save. if it is a more long term thing id go ahead and get my place set up.

Join Freecycle. They give away free furniture all the time.

For furniture, if you have time and patience, you might find some treasures on craigslist. Otherwise, best advice, if you live in a city like LA/San Fran/NYC, see if you can find a thrift store/second hand furniture shop in a richer part of town, you'd be amazed how rich people get rid of a perfectly good couch after a year or two, to "upgrade" to something else.

Hell, I'm definitely buying shit used - I live in Scandinavia - most expensive place on the planet. You can save over 50% if you don't mind humping in a bed someone's already slept in, or using a wardrobe from somewhere else (both things I don't have).
I've agreed to a plan to pay my debt off at about USD 950 a month. At my current rate of earnings, my goal is to be completely consumer debt free regardless around February 1st next year. I began the year with about USD 18,000 in consumer debt. I don't plan on finishing college and grad school till 2013, and my student debt is average. I make enough money that I also put a little into my pension plan.
I guess my question lies in whether I should set up the crib so I comfortably can bang chicks here, or whether I ought to postpone that and count on banging bitches on the air mattress, trusting in my shaky/volatile gaming skills.

Come on dude... this is your perfect chance to run "new place" game. All you need is a mattress, some big cushions/pillows and an iPod speaker dock for some mood music and you're golden. First of all, it is scientifically proven that any girl remotely interested will come back to "see your new place." Engage her imagination by pretending to be interested in her suggestions on how you should setup and furnish the place, then tell her that her ideas are no good because then you won't have room for your Samurai swords and authentic Italian pizza oven you plan on installing. Having only a mattress (note: a legit mattress, not an air mattress, this is one thing you should buy) on the floor just opens up for some creative sex positions.
When life hands you lemons, run new place game.

Agreed.
But I fucked up badly, so I need to work twice as hard to get back on track. Not that I don't plan on enjoying myself, but being irresponsible means I have to pay my dues now.
What's really needed is patience. Figure out what you want, figure out what it will take to get it, then do it - and be patient, because the best results usually take longer.
In my case, my crib still sucks, but I'm bringing a girl over tomorrow (get the week off to a good start) and I'm just going to not care that at 23, I live like a 20-year-old. Eventually, I'll get where I want to be. As for finances, it's going to be tight, and I don't think I'll reach my goal of Feb 1st. It might not be till April 1st.
On the other hand, I'm spending two months in Nicaragua this winter! WOOHOO!

In college life we spent lots of money but don't know the value of money this is all for lifestyle. My only one advice to college kid is that t to understand the importance of money when they are in college campus because outside the college many problem which are different from college life.

Pay down the Debt, Rum.
Where is your crib located? Is it in a University District? If so, make it happen with the mattress on the floor. Nothing like bring a hot chica and hittin it at your new place.
I am in the same mode (for different reasons) at my new spot. I can definitely buy new furniture but don't want to do it because I'll be moving again in a few months.
Speaking of which I have decided to bounce a girl or two - just cuz of the inspiration from this thread.

I think Roosh has a good idea here. Spread out the furniture buying. That's what I always do when I have to save up for something like this, spread it out over a couple months as much as I can. Yard sales are another great option. You kind find some real legit stuff if you look around.
The selling weed idea, bad idea unless you are growing it yourself. I hardly ever sold weed, I just never made close to enough money for the risk, I usually just smoked my proffit. The only time I sold it was when I was getting it super cheap. Selling other drugs is much more lucrative, but then you have to worry about things like getting caught, jacked, and getting people hooked on fucked up shit. I made a killing selling pharmasutical pills during highschool and a little after, but I don't advice doing this and if you do make sure you are getting a good connect you can trust.
