Wearing a "misogynistic" T-shirt at a womens event leads to arrest

Quote:Quote:

A man wearing a novelty t-shirt with a sexually charged message was arrested Saturday after refusing a police order to leave a South Carolina park due to “the shirt with that phrase on it"

cops approached Miller and told him that he was not allowed to wear the shirt in Spartanburg’s Barnet Park

Miller was then issued a trespass warning “from Barnet Park during the Rock the Denim event,” a yearly concert that is devoted to raising awareness of sexual violence against women.

Freedom of Speech isn't unlimited. The classic example is that you can't yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater. This guy was wearing a misogynistic shirt at an event devoted to raising awareness of sexual violence against women.

Haha. You can have freedom of speech just as long as you don't offend me or say something mean about what I stand for!! The comments are good. Give me a little bit and I'll post them up with the Facebook pictures [Image: popcorn3.gif]

Not surprised there

Freedom of speech, as long as it doesn't offend me!

Where was the backlash over the tshirts that said something along the lines of "boys are stupid throw rocks at them".

Anyways I'll be willing to bet that if the guy was clean cut and presentable there would be little issue.
Important when dealing with women:
1. Be attractive(presentable)
2. Don't be not attractive(presentable)

Nah i bet they got him for obscenity cause its got the word fuck in plain sight. You can protest but there are rules to follow in order to be granted the right to protest. Thats society. Be smart about that shit if you're gonna stir shit up. Using profanities is wear they always get you. Pun intended.

Even if the shirt doesn't qualify as obscene, it definitely qualifies as indecent (speech protected for adults but not for children). If there were children present, the officer was well within the right to take steps to protect them from viewing the shirt.

and before anyone says, "if you don't like it, don't look," isn't that why people wear sayings on a shirt? so they are read? and once read, the damage is done. Just being honest. I'm really not a prude, but I'm sick of living in an uncivilized society! No limits have not proven out well.

Quote:Quote:

This guy was offensive/disrespectful to women and little kids should not have read this guys message in public. Its politically correct to say, "Well, he has a right to express himself..." No he doesn't. The message on his shirt was Literary Second Hand Smoke; highly offensive. There is a line in society that should not be crossed; this guy crossed that line.

Not trying to race troll here, but I'd be willing to bet that if that dude was white and didn't look so shady, he wouldn't have been arrested.

Would the below t-shirt have caused equal outrage? I don't think it would have -- because a women is wearing it.

I can't find pics of the event, but I'd bet there had to be some women in offensive shirts. And if there were, the "misogynistic" t-shirt guy might just have a reason to file a lawsuit and accuse them of racial prejudice.

(Sidenote: it would be a good experiment to go to a rally like this and bring both a black man and white woman wearing the same offensive shirt. How much you wanna bet the guy gets thrown out and the girl gets high-fives? That O'Keefe guy who pranks liberals should do this.)

What if we introduced Somalia to cannibalism and chained up a horde of fatties in the middle of Mogadishu? Would we be solving two problems at once?

I always thought we could one day use fat people to generate power, like in the matrix, but this works too [Image: lol.gif]

Dude looks and sounds like he could be homeless or otherwise down on his luck. So this is really par for the course. Cops arrest poor black dude, so a bunch of middle class idiots can complain about how oppressed they are in peace.

Remember, contemporary middle class white women are the most coddled as protected group of people in the history of the world.

I'm sure they would shut down city blocks to let these hooligans march through. Selective enforcement of this type of shit.

What's funny is that most likely the women who complained about this guy consider themselves progressive anti-racist types, who turn their noses at redneck confederate flag-wearing yahoo's and yet - in the end the guy was arrested in part because he's black.

This is why I've lost patience with white liberals. Go to any college town in America; it'll be full of liberals who condemn racism as the greatest of evils. Yet somehow they prefer to live in the most gentrified and white of neighborhoods and, as in this instance, feel no compunction calling the police on the dark-skinned man.

I thought he was homeless. They don't usually have much money for shirts like that.

I doubt it's because the guy's black. It's because he looks like a homeless drug addict. If it was a white, gnarly looking junkie, he would have been kicked out just the same.
