Second the recommendation for Charles Schwaab.
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES use Chase. They were my bank before I went traveling. The fees are insane. $5 for ATM withdrawals, plus 2.5% for exchanging money or foreign purchases. So, if you're spending $3,000 a month and getting money out 10 times (since many ATMs have low limits) you're spending $50 a month in ATM fees plus $75 in exchange fees. That's $125 to use a freakin' bank.
Oh, and HSBC, despite being an "international bank" also sucks. You can't actually take money out when you're international. Say you have US HSBC bank. You cannot actually walk into an HSBC bank in London and take out cash. They're not connected. You can use the ATM basically. And they're also fairly pricey.
... ... End rant. Charles Schwaab's card is great for travelers. Chase blows for travelers. Thumbs down on HSBC as well.
