Is the anxiety a lot of men have around women the product of American domestication?

Quote:Quote:

An odd recent New York Times op-ed by sociologist Amy Schalet touts the rise of, as the headline puts it, "Caring, Romantic American Boys." Schalet, who studied American high school sophomores (along with Dutch ones) for a forthcoming book, reports that "boys [are] behaving more 'like girls' in terms of when they lose their virginity," by which she means they "are becoming more careful and more romantic about their first sexual experiences."

Maybe her book will flesh out that claim, but in her op-ed the boys sound downright terrified: "American boys often said sex could end their life as they knew it. After a condom broke, one worried: 'I could be screwed for the rest of my life.' Another boy said he did not want to have sex yet for fear of becoming a father before his time."

If "I could be screwed for the rest of my life" is what passes for a romantic sentiment at the New York Times, the editors' Valentine's Day cards must be a laugh riot.

Schalet's most interesting assertion is that "the American boys I interviewed seemed more nervous about the consequences of sex than American girls." It's not clear if she interviewed girls as well as boys, but she offers this further point of comparison: "The 2002 National Survey of Family Growth found that more than one-third of teenage boys, but only one-quarter of teenage girls, cited wanting to avoid pregnancy or disease as the main reason they had not yet had sex."

True story - I turned down losing my virginity very early because the girl was batshit insane. I don't regret it.

As a wider point, I'm more scared of fat boisterous girls when I go out than I am of guys. Guys at least think about being arseholes in case they get a punch in the face, but girls straight up don't care. They throw drinks, punch, shove, slap, kick you in the balls.

In addition if a guy starts a scrap with one of my group, it probably isn't going to end with one of us getting put in a cell for brawling.

More on the original topic, I know loads of guys who haven't pulled because if the girl is drunk or acting out in the club or whatever, they've turned it down because of fear of the false rape allegation.

That's why the whole 'slut walk' mentality is retarded: It's empowering women to be ignored by any guy with a sense of self-preservation. Still, in 20 years it'll be great to be an exotic cat dealer or something.

And the funny thing is more girls are becoming sluts.

I remember in grade 8, among the girl population of the grade, probably 90% of them had already been fucked, more often than not by older dudes.

I was surprised because even the "good" girls put out.

Needless to say, there was probably many potential statutory rapes.

Chick had huge crush on me in high school. She was obsessed with me per other people. It got to the point where she was instructing people to ask me if i were gay... She was a butter face of monumental proportion. Held on to v card

That's because guys are figuring out that slut-shaming doesn't get you laid.
In fact I'll go as far as to say that women do the majority of slut-shaming in
order to cut down on competition.

Yeah but guys are trading in the slut shaming for white knighting.

Most of the guys that did slut shaming were the ones that took Vcards from the girls.

This problem is starting out early. You read stories of the cops being called, or suspensions of little boys for kissing a girl in school. In ELEMENTARY school. We criminalize and sexualize boys at an age when they have no idea what sex is. As you get older, it's false rape and sexual harassment accusations from normal male behavior. Interaction with women is fraught with landmines now. THAT'S why boys are afraid of girls.

I only talked to girls a few times until the ninth grade. Used to play tag with them when I was a little boy (like 9 or 10) and always ended up getting in trouble for very minor roughhousing. Like you'd tag somebody and shove them a mite. Then you'd have to sit out the rest of recess, which always made me angry because that was the only part of the school day that was any fun.
Then the girls in Catholic school learned that they could tattle and basically get their way with any teacher because playing the victim comes very naturally to women. It was stupid because they demanded inclusion into kickball and dodgeball games yet didn't want to be treated like a dodgeball or kickball player. We (my friends and I) knew that once a girl joined our serious games that it would take an instant turn to the pussified. After a while they had a very slanted idea of what fair was.

Most, if not all American schools have pretty much outlawed these games, because they were considered too violent. Or because they too closely manifested the natural order - the stronger kids picked on and drilled the weaker ones, eliminating them quickly.

Haha, thought of this as soon as I read your post.
