I love this show. I've been watching them back to back all month when I can fit the time in.

While not identical to pitching to VCs (obviously) I like the back and forth and the strategic objections, rebuttals, and back stabbing that occurs between the Sharks and the contestants.

Probably my favorite show on American television at the moment.

Resurrecting old thread - hamster chick on last night's episode started her pitch by talking about 'body image for women' and all that claptrap. She was asking for a $200k investment for her company called... "Skinny Mirror". Basically a carnival-esque mirror which makes you look thinner; her philosophy was 'if you look good, you feel good about yourself'. Her business plan was to sell these aberrations to clothing retailers to help sell product, with the backup idea that the hamster consumers would have the same product at home. To keep feeling good about themselves I suppose.

Unbelievable. By which I mean, every time I say to myself, "unbelievable", it's removed a degree, as in "I find it unbelievable that this sort of hamsterism is all too believable."

Kevin Leary and Daymond John called her out on her shit straight away. She's a fat enabling bitch and should feel embarrassed. Thank God no Shark went with her.

I think fat shaming is good - just this morning I walked past a 400lb woman on my way to the elevator, she needed a walking stick and she was breathing so hard she sounded like she was about to drop dead any second. How is her obesity good for society?

Fat people spend a lot of money too. No reason to not cater toward them.

I remember reading that there was a lot of money in reinforced hospital beds and chairs.

When you start doing the math
- it's expensive to be fat
- it's expensive to be poor

The poor are currently being soaked like they've always been.
But the bulk of Americans being fat is a recent 30 year phenom.

It's not about your morals, it's about $$$ and the marketplace.

This is actually a good product, but not a good business to invest in because the idea is not patentable, lousy business to start.

I can't believe for a second this idea would fly in the US. Subway just lost a class action suit because their 'foot longs' were not >= 12.00"; can you imagine the class action suit by Fatties United against SkinnyMirror? Rather tellingly the 'inventor' cited a favourable study that had been done... in Sweden.
