I used the cell phone trick to great effect in Germany several times. The trick is to quarter away from where people would be, but not a full 180 degrees, since that makes it too obvious.

Not a fan of technique 3 or 4. I have a technique where I pull over and go to the passenger side rear door. Open it and piss while I'm on the phone. The door is a shield from the from, and my body shieds me from the rear.

You can also just move to Finland and not bother with trying to hide it.

This is my number one problem while traveling, really: I have no idea what I'm supposed to do when I need to piss if it's one of those countries where you can get arrested for peeing in the wrong place. What exactly is the right place if you're a tourist just walking around town?
