Concentration and Focus

The amount of successful men on this forum is quite amazing, to say the least. I hope to join the ranks of those most successful, one day. In the mean time, baby steps. I'm beginning college in about two weeks (re starting, anyway) and would like to get started well. Through out my educational history, my concentration levels in class have always been sub par, which can be a problem in classes such as math, biology, etc. I was curious, how did some of you guys improve/work on your focus and concetration skills? And I don't mean just in the class room. If one wanted to go about learning a new skill (programming, plumbing, etc) how do you stick with it/concentrate on it? Practice of some sort? Sheer willpower? Meditation? Any supplements you guys take? Any tips are welcome! [Image: smile.gif]

Don't believe all that you read on the internet.

As for focus....tune out all the non-essentials. Give yourself no option but to study, improve your résumé, hit the gym, etc. It differs from person to person but if you understand your goals, you can design your daily and weekly life to advance you in their direction.

Try these:

Health: Ginkgo Biloba http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-13455.html

Health: Green Tea http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-11041.html

My mind is super crazy and these both have helped me.

Yep, saw the thread, Interesting. Would the Ginkgo "go" with a multi vitamin as well? Wouldn't want to overload my kidneys. The Green tea sounds really good.

Surfing. Or any other physical activity the requires intense focus. Rock climbing and rowing have worked for me in the past. I always find the day after a good session my mind is super clear and I'm able to get tons of shit done.

Sleep!

Diet: Paleo, Coconut oil( brain fuel)

Sugar and carbs seem to give me big dips in energy and focus. The more I avoid them the better I function.

Also, regular exercise. Even a short 8-minute run (3 warmup, 2 slow, 3 fast) clears out the cobwebs and gets your blood flowing to your brain.

To be honest besides supplements to stay awake and going all night the number one way to focus is... Caring. If you want something badly you don't get distracted.

Sports are a great example.

You don't care if the crowd is booing, cheering or heckling you, the only thing you see is the goal/hoop/target.

It's relatable to game, you don't see fat girls because you don't care about them, you only see the good looking ones. Focused.

Similarly nervousness is just the same. If you flutter in sports or "choke" this is really just caring about "what if you miss" lost concentration. The best people have unyielding abilities to focus in on what they want.
