Reykjavik Independece Day Holyday (June 17th)

I am thinking about spending a weekend in Reykjavik, Iceland in may or june.

I understood that from Sunday to Wednesday, the nightlife is almost zero, so I decided to go only for a weekend. I found that Monday, June 17th is a holiday (Independence day). Maybe is a good opportunity to have real nightlife on Sunday and have one more night of action comparing going to a normal weekend.

But, the question is, do you think the city will have less people because of the holiday and also because it’s the beginning of summer, so the girls go out of town? Or is a good shot?

Thanks!

I'm no expert on Iceland but it seems like more Icelanders would come into Reykjavik rather than leave for a holiday like that. I say go for it, but you should try and have some off days because there are some really cool outdoor activities to do outside of the Reykjavik.

The girls are there every day of the week, you just have to play it a bit differently on weekdays. Kaffibarinn always has people (not always easy to get in the groups but once you do the pickings are ok) and if in a worst case scenario hit the KEX hostel which has a bar until about 12 and go hit on the backpackers.

From what I hear that day is a big deal in Iceland. So girls could be with there families but I am sure there will be enough girls there to have fun with. I get the impression alot of them go on holidays later on in the summer months.
However, if you have a choice I would try and go when it is colder. I was there in late October and it was pretty good to say the least.
