Why women comedians are not funny

http://www.streetbonersandtvcarnage.com/...ent-funny/

"The subjects the women spoke about were essentially all the same. They were, in short, all about themselves. Their life, their hair, their roommates, their feelings. In other words, all the female comedy was turned inward. Out of five 7-minute sets, there were only three jokes that spoke about outside events and only one joke about politics. It took 28 minutes before I laughed aloud.

The men, on the other hand, rarely spoke about themselves. Jokes about their appearance were used as soft openers in order to lead the audience into the set. This is not to say that male comedians are not capable of being horrible, self-involved, rambling bores. Dear God, are they ever! But out of my personal test group, they were not. They spoke liberally about history, religion, and politics. They spoke in pithy, crafted observations. Never once did they mention they felt fat."

This points to a larger difference between men and women. Women on the whole do not care what happens in the wider world. Instead they are mostly only concerned with their own little world hence when they are writing jokes it tends to mostly fall into the category of how doing their make up is hard, how PMS sucks and the like. Men on the hand DO care about these issues which is why male comedians have jokes about politics and society at large. For a woman, if something doesn't effect her personally and directly then it simply doesn't register on her mental radar.

I don't think I've read an article on gender differences penned by a woman before that was both: A) well written, logically considered, not snarky B) not entirely favorable to women in all regards (i.e. pointing out differences objectively instead of GRRRRLPOWA). And predictably, feminist hearts bleed all over the comment section with a standard NUH UH argument laced in shaming language.

Perhaps it's why there's fewer ones who are actually funny.
But funny female comics do exist. I've seen many who I thought were talented.

Gender only goes so far - a vagina alone can't negate a great sense of humor.

My two cents...

Men are only funny because they have to be to get laid... Either that, or their wit was forged through the furnace of some very serious pain and/or introspection in their life; most truly funny and brilliant comedians I know of have had at least slightly fucked up childhoods.

Women on the other hand, particularly western women, coast through their lives very likely never knowing an equal amount of true pain and hardship, and never having to lift a finger to get laid by just about any guy they want... Women don't need skills to get dick, so, by what means could your average chick possibly develop a sense of humor?

I'd just like to say that Amy Schumer is hilarious, though.

Just because funny female comics exist doesn't mean females are funny. Just because there are a few exceptions to a generalization doesn't disprove that generalization. A woman's environment isn't what causes her to lack humor; it is her biological makeup that causes her to lack humor. Women are solipsistic, perpetually self-absorbed creatures. I love them, but they are. Let's not characterize the largely normal behaviour of the majority of people as if it were some construction.

Good thread over at faster seduction about this:

"I've always considered humor to be a masculine trait. Let's consider the principle first articulated by PUA Carlos Xuma:

Masculinity is - making situations seem small.

Femininity is - making situations seem big.

Humor is - making situations seem small.

And there you have it. It doesn't matter how big or serious the situation is that you are being faced with in real life. The point is to perceive it as small or big irrespective of reality. Humor makes it seem small, and thus, takes away fear. Humor then, like masculinity, is associated with protection (masculinity with actual protection and humor with the perception of protection)."

I find that a lot of lesbian female comedians are funny, Wanda Sykes and Ellen for example, I think it has something to do with their brains being wired in a similar way to men, but again just an observation.

This. I'd take it a step further. Humor aka writing jokes is an extension of creativity. I posit that in the ancestral environment the only the most resourceful/clever men were able to devise shelter, methods to hunt animals and form tribes. Women on the other hand just followed the most resourceful men. The resourceful guys lived longer and had more mating opportunities passing on their clever genes and habits.

Like you said a woman can be stupid, lazy, bad with money irresponsible and still be better off than a man of the same age in the same city. It is what it is but adversity build character.

OT but a homeless woman asked me for changed the other day and I just gave her the Bert stare. Everything was handed to you and still f-ed it up smh:

Lisa Lampanelli can be funny because she's a vulgar shock comic - an area most women won't touch.

I think there are a few factors. One is just that genetically speaking women fall on a narrower bell curve than men do. So while there are definitely women who are funnier than most guys, the funniest people are men. Another is that the skills of a good stand-up are developed by doing grueling road gigs. Bill Burr is so good partly because he did shitty road work for a long time. Same with Louie C.K. and every other top stand up I can think of. That's a lifestyle that just isn't that appealing to most women. So for a woman to become a good stand up she has to be funny and willing to do grueling road work.

There are a few notable exceptions: Maria Bamford is one of the funniest people I've ever seen.

Joan Rivers is the only female comedian I think is genuinely funny.

One thing no one has discussed is that a woman's primary attribute is her attractiveness and the qualities you need to be genuinely funny detract from that.

The best male comedians are funny because they're willing to make themselves look like idiots (Belushi), maniacs (Kennison), sickos (Dice Clay), or losers (Dangerfield). It's a rare woman such as Julia Louis-Dreyfuss who is willing to be completely over-the-top and ruin her perceived SMV on camera. And she doesn't do stand-up.

Since most women don't want to look like fools, they best they have to offer is snark. This is why Handler, Fey and Poehler are truly not funny but it's also why the can work hosting awards shows, since snark rules there. It's also why Joan Rivers rules in that category.

Even the stuff Women find funny is lame. Those "card memes" girls post on Facebook are wack as hell, same with that Jenna Marbles whatever her name is. She is literally the benchmark for Female comics right now and she is dry as hell. Women most compute it differently but the article is true, woman forever fail to have a large world view and forever direct things inward and internalize. This is probably why all the classic successful Female comedians have been lesbians because they have less core Female traits, or Jewish because there is such a strong culture that is very outward and direct which anybody whom is Jewish cab easily recognize and poke fun at.

What annoys me about a lot of female comedians is their willingness to go down the 'lowest common denominator' route, usually ending in laughing at mens sexual performance. Its not that I find it offensive its just so unimaginative.

I've always thought that female comedians were disgusting. I have not found one yet that I would bang. Any girl that says she looks up to or admires Chelsea Handler is automatically pump and dump material for me. I seriously think that she has a dick. She may also be 50 years old. Either way...post wall, and she knows it.

Now, I'm no expert on comedians, but I did find one that slayed me last night on some random cable channel. Again, she talked like a man, but her jokes were hilarious.

Bonnie McFarlane. The show was from 2006.

It is the same reason women aren't good at most things. Limited intellectual capacity + narcissism = lack of creativity and low productivity

Norm Macdonald shines some light on this. The relevant parts are from 26:00-30:00. His remark about a cure for AIDS from 4:00-5:00 is hilarious.

Case in point: Sue Perkins, who is all over UK TV. She had a new sitcom start last night. TL;DW (too lame;didn't watch). She seems a decent person, for a dyke, but she's as funny as ... the average woman. My ex never made me belly laugh in 13 years. I laughed at her for being dumb and whatnot, but she never cracked a decent joke. It really got to her: "You never laugh at my humour".

I think it's because women are herd animals and also a lot of them are harmony addicts. Humour is usually about uncomfortable truths being exposed, and they just don't feel comfortable doing that because it sets them apart and runs the risk of being disliked.

I think the girl comediennes do say some funny shit at times, but at their core, women comediennes are tragic, not funny.

Why does she need to tell jokes? She thinks she's a man or doesn't understand that men don't get turned on by funny women.
