Do you cut local sim to micro sim?

So I have tried to take many phones while traveling. And I found that in the end, actually the iPhone is best for travels. ( assume you got an unlocked one that works with any local SIM card)

I tried many lower end android phones but a lot of them seem to crash or run out of memory, for example, samsaung galaxy y which I used, but couldn't load more apps, and others which are slow.... The iPhone, while many don't like, still have very good performance.

With the iPhone, as you know, you need the micro sim. But if you go to kiosks, mostly you will get the normal sim

Does anyone actually cut the sim into micro sim for their iPhones when they are traveling?

Do you use this?

For countries like peru I don't think they got micro sim there.... Might need to cut it. but I heared cutting it your self is not good somehow. Not sure if anyone has tried cutting them before.

I cut my own sim card to a micro sim. You can download a schema from the internet and cut it with a sharp knife. You need to be careful that you don't cut the chip, but thats all.

I used this manual: http://www.macnotes.de/images/micro-sim-...cnotes.pdf

Yeah they just cut it, because there isn't a real micro sim standard AFAIK. When I got a local sim in China they just took a regular 3G sim and cut it.

There s lots of YouTube stuff in how to do it. I live in colombia and one of those kiosks did it for me with a special hand cutter they have especially for that. Not expensive and probably a bit safer if u can track one down.

The cutters are easy to find and cheap (under $5). Here's one:

I carry this when I travel.

Another option is to use an adapter that allows you to use a full size sim. Here's one:
