Ironically, I've recently had to prepare a lecture on this.

What I find fascinating is that some companies insist that their employees are for all intents and purposes chained to their desks the whole day. But with the resultant brain damage from inactivity, productivity will surely drop? Conversely, letting your employees goof off a bit and move their bodies will boost their productivity.

And maybe that's why I've heard some people claim that the human race is getting dumber - it's because people these days are more sedentary compared to 2 or 3 generations ago, and the evidence is pointing to 'sitting all day' as a cause of poor brain function.

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.
