So Close I Can Taste It (Leaving DC)

Evening, fellas. Regular visitor but haven't posted in a while. Two part post:

1) The subject of how awful Washington, DC is has been covered time and again on this site, much of it with very high quality analysis as many forum members live in, or have lived in DC at one point in time.

Though I still "live" there, I spend all my free time traveling for the mere opportunity to go after decent-looking women. That means regularly pull 8s+. (Note: If you can regularly pull 8s+ in Washington, DC, allow me to inform you. Your game skill-set is in the top 0.1% of the world. Which begs the question, why on earth are you in DC?)

Heading straight to the airport every weekend is actually a surprisingly successful strategy for dealing with life in DC and has also been well chronicled on here by many members. However, that is merely a treatment, not a cure.

Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to say – I am almost out. Fingers crossed, I will have officially landed a job in NYC within a month.

I did have the misfortune to spend this weekend here. And every time it's worse. I only get out in DC once every 6-7 weeks but let this be a word of warning for any male even CONSIDERING moving: It could have a far-reaching impact on your life. Thankfully, I found a quick solution (the airport) once DC “turned,” and it's been worth every penny. (There are some of us on here who remember: Pre-recession, DC actually wasn't THAT bad. Then a switch flipped.)

One image that sticks out in my mind from this weekend was two 7's at the bar who sat down and within 5 minutes were surrounded by betas offering them drinks. It didn't stop the entire night. It was painful to watch and worthy of a YouTube clip. Both 7s went home alone, as did all the poor bastards who may as well have thrown $50 in a paper shredder.

I have been around the world far and wide. (Not quite as much as Roosh, but I've racked up the miles.) And though I make my living as an editor, I still lack the words to fully describe how awful this city is for men. I simply can't do it justice. I can only say unequivocally: It is hell on earth for men.

Take the worst-case, city-based scenario for a man you can possibly imagine [overweight women, 6s thinking they should model professionally (Yeah, I've heard that stated. They weren't laughing.), shocking male-female ratios in nightlife venues, etc.) Now multiply it by ten. You're still not even close.

If you are ever thinking of moving there, please contact me first. No matter the job, no matter the salary. Do NOT do it to yourself. If you're still tempted, contact me and I will personally convince you otherwise! You'll thank me down the road.

2) In the meantime, if anyone's got some input on how I can hit the ground hard in NYC, I'd be very grateful. (G – You out there? I know you're fairly well-versed on NYC.) I do travel up there occasionally and have a good idea of relevant venues/neighborhoods. However there's a difference between knowing a city as a visitor and knowing a city as a local.

Naturally, I'm well-aware there will be at least SOME dropoff upon relocation. It will be hard to immediately start rotating 8.5s in the first month. Doesn't mean it can't be done, but it's realistic to expect SOME lag as I get started. (I'm good, but not THAT good.)

Note: When I say 8.5, I mean 8.5. I'm not grading on the "DC Curve," which is a topic for another time that I hope I'll never have to write about again.

Regardless, obviously I'd like to get up there and establish a regular 3-4 girl rotation of 8-8.5s+ as soon as possible. So, I'm looking for some input on the ideal way to hit the ground running, i.e. - where to live, where to go out, and which areas may have the ideal mix of both.

You don't want to be based too far from your target market, which for me happens to be 22-26 year old recently graduated southern blondes. Thankfully, NYC is full of that so I shouldn't be at a loss for venue. As you know, that demographic is notoriously clingy to their respective beta-orbiter filled social circles, even more so than hot girls in the northeast, so I'd be curious how you guys would go about breaking that down in NYC as well.

Any thoughts are appreciated... In the meantime, it's been a pleasure, DC. A pleasure to see in my rear-view mirror. Stay away, fellas, stay away. For it is Chernobyl to a man's soul.

Why is DC such a bad place for game? I've never spent time there. I imagine all the chick lawyers are just looking for a guy to buy some drinks at an upscale lounge for a "date". Maybe a nice restaurant, to keep the legs open for a few weeks.

I've found that smart woman (DC ladies, probably), take good care of their health, eat right, do yoga, workout, etc. in an attempt to land an Alpha. Are there just too many guys in DC. If so, is it the opposite of NYC where hot woman out number straight guys by a significant amount?

I'm from the midwest, two nyc women have told me any normal (straight, with a decent job) guy in nyc could get laid with ease, just by hanging out at an upscale place.

The reason why pua culture is more vibrant in cosmopolitan cities like NYC and london is that they are target rich, and the urban culture suits in. I also had a bad time in a place like dc, ended up me quitting the job and leave. I would say places like dc are more for settled people, not players or wanna be players. Good that you are leaving though, one lesson learnt.

I would think NYC would be okish easy for average chicks, but the top model types will still be hard while competition is fierce for them

While I haven't really gamed much in DC I know NYC and it will be night and day for you. Where in the city are you going to live?

... And yet. Here I am in the greater NYC area, and I go out to the city two or three times a week, but I find myself missing the "cozy" DC nightlife scene. Might be the fact that I don't aim primarily for white girls, who are naturally the main target for most--and for whom I agree the situation in DC is as you described.

My advice to men who are in the DC area and interested in college or grad-school age white and asian girls is to try Clarendon. On any Friday night after 12:00, the place is jam-packed with intoxicated, barely-21-year-old females stumbling around in search of phalli. Just stroll into any of the bars or the ballroom (in particular the basement of the ballroom is basically a make-out cave) and you'll be running into trim like a crash dummy.

I disagree with this. DC has always been pretty bad for a city of it's size and stature.

Wait, how did buying drinks all night only amount to $50?

Those are some pretty cheap prices in DC.

Check the NYC thread. I broke down exactly what I would do with a night Step by Step.

I still don't think anyone has followed it yet although I had a ton of people asking me.

I've noticed the DC hate threads die down in the summer and ramp up in the winter here..

True.

I think Roosh said that the only tolerable time in DC is during the summer.

May and September in DC are really nice.

Those are the only two months I would ever go there.

Question for DC guys...

Have you had to tone down your dickness in other states? When I've been there you guys were all smart-ass dickheads. The girls were dicks too.

I travel a lot, but I was DC born and raised so I have an inexplicable love/hate relationship with the city. I blame everything on transplants. Remember how many au pairs used to be here? I just wiggled my way inside a social group of nothing but au pairs, and it is everything I dreamed of.

El Machanico: My experience is different. The women are cunty but the guys are usually chode betas. Depends on your venues, I guess. I never run into many male douchebags. I do have to turn down my cockiness when I visit other states.

Congrats, I don't know much about DC but NYC is an incredible place to meet girls for all the obvious reasons- big population, high girl quality, female-male ratio. I visit there as often as possible and am always impressed with the amount of gorgeous women walking around.

G - Haha far from it. That's actually another, unspoken kick in the balls for DC. Not only it is hell for men, the prices are stratospheric on par with NYC and Miami. You're looking at $14 for a decent quality drink. $18 in many hotel bars, easy.

What I meant was, in my estimate each guy offered up about $50 to provide drinks towards these girls throughout the night. These girls more than drank their fill. On a side note, they were also seated just the two of them the entire time, while the betas stood and talked to them. Hitting on a seated set = Never a good tactical situation. Anyone with even a shred of game knows that. It was brutal to watch.

Thanks, will check the thread. However, as I'm relocating there, I was actually more curious as to where you'd post up. Where would be your chosen location to live? One that's ideal for convenience and of course, close enough to nightlife venues to transition things smoothly.

Live in the Lower East Side, as close to Ludlow and Delancey as possible. Friday and Saturday night is ridiculous with girls 22-26

Those days are over. Clarendon is now a cockfest. It's turning into adams morgan. Don't go.

I wing with Rackishness quite often and let me say after going last night, I agree. Clarendon is not what it was years ago. I can remember in pre-2010...it was the shit. The ratio was very good. Quite a few hot chicks. Just a really good place to be.

These days, you just see sausage. Sure, some girls might respond well at first BUT it all dies down from there. But the majority of girls will be tied to their group and just want orbiters around. If your gonna go, go between 10 and 11. There is a low crowd there BUT you'll find gaming girls much easier during then.

I agree with Jackhammer(I definitely remember you man, you were the one who gave the idea of traveling on the weekends. I just don't have the funds to do it for a while), the only reason you'd move to DC is to travel on the weekends. Sure DC isn't the worst place to game, there are worst places. BUT, if you go out and bust your butt doing this....it is not the ideal place to succeed if you want to just game. Social Circle game would def work from what i see here, But honestly...why go through the trouble? Honestly...i think it'd be boring hanging out with the same big group all the time considering hunting is a lot more fun and you can always meet new girls.

NYC I personally would have to give a bigger shot. At first, i felt disappointed since many of the girls during the day time didn't react or had attitude except for a few places plus union square having ok looking girls BUT then the night scene def had potential and i just didn't really touch much of what's out there besides The Standard, Brass Monkey and East Village bars.
