DC Area = celibacy?

Out of curiosity, how did most of you guys end up in DC? I was born and raised in MD, left for school, but plan on coming to DC within the next year to work. My degree and experiences lend to getting a government job in DC, so that seems like my best bet unfortunately.

I made a mistake. Someone offered me a job and I had never really heard anything negative about the D.C. area or the women living there so I thought it would be a great idea. It took me about a week to realize how bad the situation really was. I've made the most of it though and I see the place for what it really is, an A.T.M. machine with ugly women.

Did you guys actually watch this shit? I can't believe these girls really talked to Ryan Lochte like that in a bar?!? Wtf.

^^^ Is that real? I mean it's funny, but I have never had girls be like that. It just seems staged for the camera...and maybe the production assistant primed them to say crap like that. Those girls were awful in every way in any event.

You may be right. The brunette said "what do you you think of the obama care act". I have not heard that. It is either the affordable care act (aca) or Obamacare.

Embellished or not....how close of an accurate portrayal is this of DC girls? Looks wise and conversation wise?

I don't think you would have been able to run. The blonde fatties gravitational pull would have pulled you in like the death stars tractor beam and then you would have looked in panic to her right and stared directly at the brunette medusa subsequently turning to stone.

Looks wise right on the spot, conversation wise not that accurate. While women discuss politics more here than in other cities it is not that bad. I rarely have girls talk to me about politics at bars here in DC...I always lead the conversation either towards travel or sports. I am pretty sure that conversation was staged for the show.

There are some really great comments on this WaPo article entitled "D.C. is one of America's snobbiest cities, according to Travel and Leisure."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/goin...e/?hpid=z5

This one, for example:

Quote:Quote:

I have lived in the DC area for over 60 years, since I was 4 years old. I like DC and feel at home here. I can dress up and go to a nice restaurant and feel at home. I have a property in Florida and live there several months of the year. I love the climate but the people there are crude and offensive, and they don't dress up, which is fine if you like the trailer trash look. I have traveled the world, and I like a lot of other places beside DC. The reality is that DC is Hollywood for ugly people, and is probably the most pretensious places in the world. People here feel like their self worth is tied up in their job title. You can be someone working for an NGO and get nothing done because your are a director. Or you can work on the Hill and be on a committee staff and spend your time torturing bureaucrats and think you have accomplished something. Years ago a friend of mine went to Clyde's in Georgetown and was introduced to someone. The guy pulled back his jacket to look at the label of his clothier, and said, "Are you someone I shoud care about." That's DC at its pretentious, and self important worst.

Sounds about right.

I finally understand "DC is Hollywood for ugly people" now.

I always thought is was because both cities had sh*tty nightlife.

DC wasn't always so bad I guess:

DC used to not be snobby. It was very working class for a longtime. My Baby Boomer father grew up on MacArthur Blvd and went to Western HS (now the Duke Ellington School). He said DC back then was a nice blue collar city for both black and white people. He also used to fish in the G'town Reservoir. And when he was in high school he played the championship high school game at Griffith Stadium. He was heartbroken when the Senators left.

Also, Georgetown used to be working class too. It wasn't until the Kennedys moved in that it became upscale. Back in 1988 I begged my father to buy a townhouse in DC. They were going for like $500,000. What are they now (I don't live in the area anymore)? Between $5 and $10 mill?

I saw the Ramones at the old 9:30 Club back in the Eighties and I saw U2 came to RFK in 1987. The 9:30 Club back then was gnarly, lots of drugs, but for a young white skater that whole scene, to meet Joey and Dee Dee was awesome. I saw the Grateful Dead a few times in the late Eighties at RFK and Wolftrap or something. Dupont Circle was where you went to in order to get drugs. Do you remember the punk scene in G'town in the middle Eighties? And the bikers that hung-out at the park in G'town right near the Key Bridge? There were also a lot of cool punk places like Smash Records and Commander Salamander. You could actually by a fake ID at this one head shop in G'town I can't remember the name of. The ID was bad, but it always worked to buy beer at a 7-11 by my house. And Zeds Ethiopian cuisine was right in the heart of G'town, not further east like it is now (I heard Zeds closed...so sad). Is Nathan's still there? I would always drink there after I'd try to get to the fireworks (turned back by crowds),,,

the DC area is the beneficiary of the biggest economic/financial bubble of all time - the US Government bubble. It has gone absolutely bonkers the last 10 years, and especially the last 5 while the rest of America is broke.

Yea. But that financial bubble didn't attract single women. It brought a lot of Software engineers, programmers, defense contractors, lawyers and military vets. This has led to a "300" like bar scene. There's just too many guys here looking and fighting for women. Demographic nightmare.

Which has never made sense to me that golddigger girls didn't follow.

But then again, girls aren't too smart.

Or are DC guys in general just too dorky to appeal to women regardless of stable high paying jobs?

No, girls just aren't that smart. What you are saying though makes perfect sense. If you took the hot wannabe actresses from LA and the strippers/cocktail hosts from Vegas and put them in DC they would have so many guys throwing money at them it would be unreal. My guess is that the reason they dont do that is because they would actually have to take a job sitting in an office as a receptionist or something for a few years until they got the ring since those hot chicks dont have the skills to thrive in the DC corporate environment.

I just got back from a friend's surprise party and, man, it's unbelievable how different girls you meet via social circle are from those you meet cold, particularly in DC. My friend has a really sociable job that connects him with all kinds of people who also know people, so there were some pickings at this party. Met a solid 8 - 8.5 who was super receptive (much younger) and from a faraway state in town for a summer position. Perfect summer fling. Couldn't ONS due to logistical issues but we're already texting and she's being fairly explicit. Crazy how far social circle goes in building comfort and getting the ball rolling. It's like DC is a completely different.

I was in DC recently to visit a relative during the day and I was actually surprised at the quality I saw. There were a bunch of hot 18-22 year old girls out. Maybe because I was near all the monuments and government buildings... tourists maybe? I overheard two girls talking and they sounded like they were traveling together.

But -- then I grabbed a beer and some food at a place called Gordon Biersch around happy hour and the quality and ratio there was awful. Not even the waitresses were hot. I guessing this is more representative of DC.

Anyone in DC try day game in these areas? I couldn't because I was with family, but I'd like to go back some time in the summer.

Exactly. DC is not an easy place to live. The socio-economic environment is not conducive to skating by just on looks without some combination of serious education / skills or daddys money. The hot girl with some community college that could kill it in Miami or Vegas will have a both miserable and short lived existence here. I'm not judging if that is good or bad....it is what it is.

Social circle + only been in DC for a few weeks + younger = hasnt been tainted and jaded yet by DC. Give her a few years in DC and she'll be a different animal

Yeah. Good thing she's getting out of here by summer's end. I was saying in an earlier post in this thread that this time of year is good for DC because there's a lot of transients. There are a lot of 21-24 y/o chicks who are only here for the summer. I saw unusually good talent on U St. last night (many 7s and 8s).

I was out there last night too. Met some dumb girls at the first place we stopped who were talking wild trash out the blue (totally caught me off guard). Then what was supposed to be just me and my friend tag teaming the streets turned into a group of 4 dudes, smdh. Nonetheless, I did see some decent talent as well but we spent most of our time on 14th.

There were some good looking chicks at Rhino in Georgetown tonight..but good thing it's in the shittiest neighborhood in terms of logistics. It's like it's own little world off to the side, far and tucked away.

Wish I could take the Acela to NYC every weekend, smh.

I was just in H St. NE with a chick. I like the venues there, especially H St Country Club. Probably not the best for pickup but it's a great place to take a chick.

Summer in DC has been good to me so far. You can really see results if you put in the work this time of year.
