During the game, which Alabama won 42-14 over Notre Dame, Musburger, 73, repeatedly gushed about the attractiveness of Webb, the reigning Miss Alabama, while she watched the game from the stands.
"You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women," Musburger said, as the camera zoomed in on Webb, 23. "What a beautiful woman."
"If you're a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop," he added.
Musburger's remarks lit up Twitter, with many deeming them "creepy."
An ESPN rep apologized for Musburger's comments Tuesday, tweeting: "We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."
But Webb - who gained thousands of Twitter followers and has been asked to judge the upcoming Miss USA pageant as a result of the publicity - says the mea culpa is unnecessary and believes Musburger has been the target of "unfair" criticism.
"I think the media's been unfair to him," Webb told Matt Lauer on the Today show Wednesday. "If he would have said something along the lines of we were hot or sexy or made any derogatory statements like that, I think it would have been a little bit different. The fact he said we were both beautiful and gorgeous, I don't see why any woman wouldn't be flattered by that. So I think that they've been unfair to him."

She's smokin. This political correctness shit is getting wayyyyyy too out of hand. Even calling a woman 'beautiful' is seen as offensive in America now.
