America's most attractive people

I saw the following article on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/27/living/tl-...hpt=li_mid

It lists out the top ten cities in the USA in terms of looks, ranked by a "Travel+Leisure" reader survey. Do you agree with the list?

I don't think it is too far off the mark. See the top ten list below:

Quote:Quote:

Number 1: Miami
Did they do something new with their hair? These party-loving Floridians have reclaimed the top slot this year, which they haven't held since 2009. They also ranked in the top 10 for their fashion sense and fit physiques. See for yourself over drinks at one of the city's highly rated cocktail lounges. The only downer: Miamians also ranked as being pretty aloof.

Number 2: San Diego
It's hard to argue with a beauty regimen of fresh air and miles of beaches for staying in shape. This SoCal city has consistently ranked as the first runner-up for good looks in T+L's survey, even if readers tend not to be so impressed with the locals' conversational skills. San Diegans do, however, score well for being tech-savvy.

Number 3: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Last year's winner slipped a few spots this year, but the island city is still a magnetic place for mingling with a good-looking crowd: it also ranks in the top three for its happy hour and singles scene. Readers downgraded the Puerto Rican city for its sense of style, but they were suckers for the fabulous local accent.

Number 4: Charleston
Proof that voters are a little fickle: this South Carolina city was No. 1 for attractive locals in 2010, but fell to No. 7 last year. While readers still find the locals to be charming—and think that the city makes a great romantic getaway—they were easily distracted by all the good shopping, ranking the city in the top five when it comes to antiques, design stores, and indie boutiques.

Number 5: Los Angeles
It's easy to make jokes about some locals having "work" done. But whatever the reason, Angelenos have ranked in the top five for looks in the last three out of four years, and they won the silver medal this year for their fashion-forward style. They're also trying that catch-more-flies-with-honey strategy: their niceness factor went up by three positions since last year.

Number 6: Nashville
A cowboy hat sets off the face nicely, doesn't it? Music City jumped up seven places in the attractiveness category since last year, even if it lost its grip on the top spot in the survey for music. If you want an alternative to the honky-tonks, look for any crowd wearing SEC team shirts: Nashville ranked No. 3 for its sports bars.

Number 7: Austin
Folks in the Texas capital seem to be simultaneously quirky, smart, and buff: the only personal quality that voters were less-than-smitten with was perhaps residents' tendency toward hipster fashion. Look for them hanging out by the No. 2--ranked food trucks or dining on gourmet burgers.

Number 8: Savannah
If these Georgians ever said anything unattractive or rude, voters might not even notice, so blinded were they by the top-ranked local drawl. Voters were also charmed by these southerners' willingness to indulge themselves: the handsome city ranked No. 3 for its happy hour, and No. 1 for ice cream parlors.

Number 9: Honolulu
Despite the fashion gambles of occasional floral shirts and muumuus, the Hawaiians are regulars in the attractive top 10 for their compelling mix of diversity, fitness, and a mellow attitude. It can only help that the Hawaiian city won the top spot in the survey's weather category.

Number 10: Minneapolis/St. Paul
After a two-year absence, the Twin Cities have returned to the top 10, perhaps because locals nicely walk the line between nerdy and outdoorsy: they won the survey for smarts, and the cities ranked No. 1 for their parks. Readers were also impressed by the Minnesotans' refined tastes in beverages, so to mingle, head to the local micropubs and coffeehouses.

Somehow, I have only been to three cities on that list, Los Angeles, Miami, and San Juan. In terms of women alone, in my opinion, Los Angeles blows the other two cities I listed out of the water. Does Minnesota really have any talent? It is somewhat surprising to me that the twin cities made it anywhere near that list.

Mixx (and other posters) gave a good reviews of Minneapolis/St. Paul. There are plenty of Midwestern college girls there.

As for the list as whole, the spots on the survey tend to shift around year-to-year, so I wouldn't get too caught up on the rankings of the top ten. However, the make up of the top ten tends to stay somewhat stable. My only qualms are Nashville and Savannah. I have heard mixed things about Nashville and I haven't heard much about Savannah.

That said, at least this top ten list doesn't include Washington DC. I am sick of DC being on so many top ten lists (Ex. "Top Ten Best Cities for Singles"). The fact that DC isn't in the top ten on this list adds some credibility to the list's rankings.

I don't get why Nashville is on this list. People still think the place is crawling with Jessica Simpson lookalikes in her Dukes of Hazard phase. Bullshit. Lots of plain Janes, fat and frumpy girls. Almost never will you see a 9..

Top spot in America goes to Miami Beach, hands down. Socal is right behind that and then maybe Vegas or NYC.

Interesting. So are there no hot, country singer type white chicks in the city? I have heard from others that Nashville also has a hipster scene. True?

I was surprised that NYC and Vegas are not top ten, but then I think when they do the survey, the readers are ranking the entire city. So a place like New York gets ranked by the perception of all the five boroughs, not just Manhattan.

I can speak for Charleston, SC.
Isle of Palms, on the coast, in particular is solid.

NYC is got to be one of the best. So many hot, thin women in Manhattan. And certain parts of Brooklyn are filled with hot, off the boat Russian poon tang. One of my exes belongs in this category.

If that were the case, only college towns would make it on. I guess I have trouble generalizing - I live in LA, and if anything, it's extremely variable.

I was in Philly, and I can't recall seeing a single gorgeous girl. Most everyone there looked pretty frumpy, trashy, or low class. I didn't go out, and I but I did check out the big famous mall, and even there, the saleswomen were nothing special.

True. I used to live in LA and when most people think of "Los Angeles" I am pretty sure they are thinking of either the Westside of LA or the South Bay of LA. At least, that is what most people's preception of LA is from movies or television.

I guess NYC should be on this list since Manhattan has a lot of talent. As for Vegas, I guess since it is a mainstream magazine's readership that made this list, their readers tend to think of Vegas as trashy, but it could definately be on the list.

List seems pretty legit overall to me, albeit I haven't been to most places on there, I'd say Miami and SoCal definitely deserve to be in the top 3. I know nothing about San Juan, but have heard that Charleston is stacked full of southern belles, which I believe. Athens, GA would probably be a better pick than Savannah from my intel.

Maybe it's too small of a town, but from everything I hear Scottsdale/Tempe, AZ should be on the list, Scottsdale is full of wealthy beautiful people (trophy wives and their hot daughters), and Tempe I believe is where ASU is located, which is notorious for having hot slutty women.

You'd think NYC would be on this list, I was only there as a small child, but it seems to make everyones list and it's reputation precedes it. Also, what's up with Las Vegas? I know it's a tourist city, but you'd think between all party girls, strippers, escorts, and hot bar/club/casino workers there would be a bunch of hot women there.

I would like to scope out Charleston one day as I hear besides having hot women, there is good food, beaches, and nice old southern style architecture of interest, but some how I just can't see my style, look, or vibe playing over too well in the south.

Sure they are around. Just not in the abundant numbers you'd see in first tier cities. The thing is with these second and third tier American cities in the heartland, many of the cutest girls get out of dodge and head to bigger cities. When I look up girls that were cute and popular in my graduating class in Nashville, many went off to college out of state and never came back. Thing is the girls aren't genetically ugly, they just aren't fashionable like south beach or NYC girls. And quite a few chubbers, rednecks and trashy types like on that people of Walmart site.

Yeah there's a bit of a hipster scene there.

When people talk about Miami people -- mostly the chicks -- they're referring to what they see at Miami Beach and Brickell, most of Miami is fat, average looking Latinas.

Even the Westside and the South Bay is too general. Torrance, El Segundo, and maybe Redondo don't have talent, and those are all in the South Bay. The South Bay overall is a pretty bad place to mack even when there are cute girls. But the city is flourishing, lots of places are getting fresh young blood - Koreatown, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Venice, Downtown, Culver City, WeHo, Hollywood.

Just to clarify, Miami Beach is not in the city of Miami. The actual city of Miami is a relatively small portion of Miami-Dade County's population. A very high percentage of people who live in the Miami area live in parts of Miami-Dade County which are neither located in the City of Miami nor in the City of Miami Beach.

Jariel, on a side note, I have no idea what that troll who kept accusing you of being Haitian's problem was. First, there was no reason to suspect that you are Haitian and
second, what difference would it make if you were?

Something similar for LA - Mestizos make up around half of LA, yet the quality is consistently abysmal. If you want cute Latinas en masse, you'll have to find some niche foreign scene, or go elsewhere. Unlike say, Philly, there's not much white trash, so the white girls in LA are pretty decent. Black girls in upscale/white neighborhoods are decent too.

I live there. Yes, there are a lot of attractive women. All the hot girls from the state move to Minneapolis or surrounding suburbs, because that's where everything is. Especially the U of M campus. Brings all the hot girls from the rural areas to the city.

The hot girls also seem to have slightly better attitudes here compared to other areas of the country I've been too. Probably the Minnesota Nice thing.

I've always told people...if Hitler had a dream city - Minneapolis would be it.

Baseline guy in Minneapolis might be 6'2 blonde blue eyes and tall. There's a stronger Scandinavian preservation than I've seen anywhere else in the US.

Nah man you would be fine out here. Charleston is really popular with tourists...Conde Nast Traveler just voted us the #1 tourist city in the world and we've won #1 city in the US back-to-back. It's a smaller city so it's not quite as diverse as NY or LA obviously but people come here from all over the world. You wouldn't stand out as much as you may think.

I haven't been out west but I doubt the beaches in Charleston compare. They're better than much of the East Coast other than Florida but they're not great. The food and architecture are amazing though.

This article reminds me I'm tripping though. I'm so focused on getting out of here and traveling when I should be working on my game with what I have.

Same thing out here...I live slightly outside of the city where there's a huge Hispanic population but I rarely see an even moderately attractive one. Most of them are shaped like humpty dumpty [Image: dodgy.gif]

Sucks because I love latinas.

I noticed that about LA. The Mexican/Salvadorean population, arguably over half the city is typically short & fat. Not just the women.

You also have the strongest collection of the best looking people you'll ever see when you're in certain parts of town.
