Too smart for your own good?

Bored out of my skull right now, so procastinated and went back to my online profile to see what's up. As always, mind-bogglingly fugly girls in my area, only. I spotted one hottie though, but her last online date was a while back. Too bad.

Then I did a simple search on her username, and up pops her facebook.

Contact or no contact? Nothing to lose vs. doing something essentially weird. It's a shame a little bit of intelligence can actually make you out to be creepy where stupidity makes you harmless.

I'm going to contact - after all, nothing to lose - but would the rest of you do this?

Fuck it, do it. Just don't ever mention you first saw her on a dating site. That could come off as real creepy.

Nothing to lose as you said, but the odds of this working out are slim to none. I personally wouldn't waste my time for that reason alone, but then again I've sworn off online dating entirely.

Online sites (POF, OK Cupid) are basically a free, low maintenance way to get laid. Or so I think. You throw up a few pics and write some bullshit about yourself and sit back and wait for responses. Granted, I've had more luck with online dating sites when I was putting more work into them. I will admit that girls, at least the hot ones, are too busy reading the hundreds of messages they're sent daily by horny guys to pick you out of a haystack and initiate a conversation. But still. Sometimes you get lucky even when not checking your account for months at a time.

I've also sworn it off. Total waste of time for my area, doesn't mean other areas of the country aren't better, though. What happens when you study all day and get bored easily.

I just figure since she was on the cock hunt and dropped out she's probably a bit disappointed and more susceptible to the right approach => higher probability of success.

Any empirical evidence for this? Nope.

Another problem is that -as far as I remember- when you send a message on Facebook to someone that is not your friend it pops up under "messages>other", so she will probably only see that you applied to be her friend.

Really, so if you don't friend the person in question, you can't contact them? Weird.

Maybe friend one of her guy friends. Then message her after you have a mutual friend.

Facebook now asks you if you know the person when trying to friend them. If they dont know you the system automatically rejects you at their request along with a scripted message. Just send her a cocky message and see if she takes the bait.

When it comes to the Internet, women are stupid.

As soon as you get them to reveal their first name and location via email, and you find their IP address, you can track them down with dozens of free sites available. This is particularly valuable when you are targeting married women -- you can also find out who their husband is, where he works, what he does. Often the husbands have linked in profiles and you can find out who their circles of business associates are and whether or not you have any connection with them in some fashion.

Nothing is secret anymore.

Facebook has become a social circle only venue. Random girls you have no connection to are "creeped out" if you cold-call message them. It's a place for women to show off their baby pictures or how amazing their weekend was (beta idiots also routinely post pics of them "having a blast").

I've added a few random European girls and at least their profiles contain pics of them trying to look sexy. Most American girls don't give a fuck.

"...it's the quiet cool...it's for someone who's been through the struggle and come out on the other side smelling like money and pussy."

"put her in the taxi, put her number in the trash can"

Everyone here has preconceived notions of what's going to happen if you do X Y or Z but all of life is an experiment that nobody has ever run to completion so just do, do, do, and don't doubt a thing until after you've seen the results.

I've Facebooked girls out of the blue and gotten invited to shit, and I've Facebooked girls I know and gotten the cold shoulder. As with most things, you never know how far it'll go until you try. And the more avenues you try, the further you'll get on average.

I see a lot of "nothing to lose" type of attitude in this thread, which is true for larger cities, but for the guys in smaller areas, you are risking your reputation and that is perhaps your most important asset.

I've lost count of the number of times I get somewhere or got shut down b/c someone already had an impression of me they got through the grapevine.

Just to follow up:

Things went well, we went out, got drinks last night. She's a super-cool girl (offered to pay half the tab) and we went back to her place and had unprotected sex. Her pussy was amazing.

I reread our correspondence. There was nothing spectacular about it, at all.

I think I just met her at the right time. She told she's been so horny she was ready to hump her best girlfriends. I suppose all I had to do was seem like a cool, well-dressed and well-groomed guy. I can do that (for about 4 hours, after that my neuroticisms gets the better of me).

An opportunity + being prepared to seize it.

I haven't heard from her since so she's not smitten, but I would absolutely pound her again.
