Advice on career path..

Here it goes,

I need advice on future career path. Before I get into it here is some background info.

Im irish, aFew years back i was set to hit up the oil sands in Canada I was waiting on my visa and other shit to sort out before I was in a car crash and banged myself up pretty bad. It took a lot of work but i am fully back on my feet and stronger than ever both mentally and physically. In my recovery process I completely changed my life for the better. I gave up alcohol, drugs and the smokes. That shit was ruining me and making me pretty toxic to be around.

The story now is Im 24, in year 3 in college studying exercise and health fitness. I love anatomy, movement, exercises, fitness all that kinda crack. I keep thinking to the future and what I can do with my degree and career wise theirs not a whole lot. Id like to start my own business so I can run it my way and not answer to anyone.

Here are some options I am thinking about.

Go back to year 1 and study physiotherapy/physical therapy as a 4 year degree. Start a blog and maybe some ebooks about how to get through PT school etc. Drop some quality content and basically create a following and a brand so I can start my own practice a year or two after I graduate. Do as much work experience during the summer months as possible to be the best in this field. The aim would be to run a successful practice and expand as soon as it is profitable. I would run the show and have a good team with strong vision for the business. I would aim to expand to the U.S, Canada, Australia over time.

The downside is Over here the markets pretty saturated and hard to know how profitable it would be. I would hate to end up making fuck all after going to all trouble putting myself through college again and be 29 years old finishing up when I could be in a job for afew years. The only good thing is college would be free. Its also very very competitive to get in so I might not even get this opportunity.

I could just get my level 8 degree in exercise and fitness and do a msc in sports management and hope for the best on the jobs front. I would probably get one with some sports organisation and make ok cash. Maybe start some side hustles to supplement it somewhat.

I was also thinking of joining law enforcement or the army and just ride that out, find a good women and have kids. I would be able to retire early with a decent pension and be a strong father leading my family. Potentially if I was still business hungry I could start one with the kids when their old enough and grow it with them.

So what do ye think of these options. Do you think physiotherapy/ physical therapy is a good career to make $? What is the market like in the U.S? Is their any PTs on here?

Any other thoughts about what I could do? I am open to ideas.. Thanks.

In the US, there are jobs for PTs, but its a 60-80k job and you are in school for 4 years afterwards. I am in the US military, and I hate it, but mainly due to not wanting to serve the US. Should I be in Ireland, I would join the army or police department in a heart beat. So I would recommend doing that. Finish your degree, and aim for the police jobs.

Otherwise you are best off starting a business, and failing it, then starting another. I would also work on editing and grammar. Those skills are key for military officers (mainly due to the crap-load of paperwork you will be stuck doing).

Being a police officer is more of a vocation than a career. I would recommend joining your version of the 'police reserves' before actually going into it full time. A lot of people don't know what the job really entails and can get dismayed very quickly. I believe the drop out rate for probationers is very high.

Although in Ireland, I imagine there are better conditions for police officers to work in. In the U.K, morale is incredibly low and the police are truly under unfathomable pressures.
