me: american, hispanic, late 30s, photographer. lived in nyc ten years, now am living in spain.
city overview: paris is a beautiful city with tons of sexy, stylish girls. i stayed one week in the marais district. i am an artist and the art in the city cannot be beat. not just the museums but the importance given to art, fashion, style, film, design, photography, literature, culture overall. you can feel it.
girls: tons of thin, pretty, stylish girls all over the marais district.
sight seeing: everyone knows the main sights.
lodging: i used airbnb to find a nice room in an apartment in the marais. not cheap, kinda expensive, but nice.
day game spots: center pompidou, the street in general.
nightlife spots: la perle is a great artistic bar, cafe charlot is a great cafe and nightspot, and experimental cocktail club is a cool "hip" bar with a door policy.
ease of approaching: for me, it became easy to approach, i approached stylish girls and talked to them in spanish and asked to take their picture. it started working the more i did it. tons of fun. i also dressed up nicely, a blazer, dress shoes, dark jeans, a stylish look overall.
prices and other stuff: taxis are hard to get and are expensive, the cool places i went to were pretty damn expensive, maybe even more than nyc, i have a european cell phone already so didn't have that issue.
logistics: paris is very walkable, i walked almost everywhere, only took a few taxis. i stayed mostly in the marais. pretty sure the subway system is good though.
overall pros: the sexy, stylish girls, the cool people. i fucking love this city. i was here four years ago, after art school, and it blew me away. anyone who loves art, beauty, style, design, high culture, needs to come here. and of course, i love this city because the girls are amazing. i am not an art historian after all. i like girls with style. i like girls who are cultured and interesting. to me, that's very sexy. i hate tacky girls, even if they are good looking. i mean, of course, i will overlook the tackiness if i need to, but it turns me off. if i meet a girl with a pretty face but tacky styling (say a russian girl), one will compete against the other, and they will almost cancel each other out. in paris, so many girls are thin, elegant, feminine, wearing sexy shoes, great stylish clothing that makes them look even better, it reminds me of what coco chanel said, "there are no ugly women, just lazy ones". of course this is not true but there is some truth to it. the girls here put a lot of effort into looking good and looking stylish -- not trashy or tacky -- and i love it. also, the style here is feminine elegant, not retro vintage weird like in williamsburg. girls here love being girls, and love to look feminine.
overall cons: expensive city, somewhat anti american. (1) if you are not a stylish man, or an artistic man, you might not stand out, at least in the places i am talking about, cause the men here look awesome too. if you just want attractive girls without style, i am sure EE is much better. i want to check out moscow to compare and contrast to paris. (2) also, it helps me that i speak spanish, and that i am hispanic. i approach people in spanish, and then switch to english if they don't speak spanish, which is almost always the case. the parisians don't like being in paris and having to speak english to an american, it pisses them off. so any "third" language helps. most parisians love meeting people from other countries -- and will happily speak in english to them, since they are on "equal footing" -- and of course they also admire/respect nyc, so i played up both being from new york and "being" from peru. even though really my parents are from peru, i am very american.
personal experience: amount of bangs/make outs and how many days you stayed. i stayed seven nights and got no action at all, fuck. i came close but ultimately i failed. i had an amazing time though. met tons of cool people, had a lot of fun, took a lot of great pictures, and am leaving inspired and loving life. self amusement, baby.
final thoughts: would you return and/or advice others to go here and for how long. i think it's important to "segment" and talk in data sheets about what type of man would do well in each city. i know roosh does that for race/ethnicity, for example how blond men do better in latin america, and dark spanish guys do better in northern europe, etc., but i think data sheets should also be segmented by lifestyle. what kind of lifestyles are there? the ones that come to mind are "business" lifestyle (finance guys, lawyers, computer or corporate types), "art" lifestyle (art, film, design, writers, etc), and maybe "frat" types. i can't think of anything else of the top of my head. i am sure there is a frat scene in paris, but i didn't look for it, and maybe it is small, or maybe it doesn't even exist. i think if you are a finance guy with money, you will do fine, i am sure parisian girls like money like all girls do. but my guess is that the art guys do the best. using my iphone, i showed girls on the street my photography, and pretty much all of them were interested and receptive. they thought it was cool that i was a photographer. i got the feeling that art was something admired and revered in paris, something to be encouraged and respected. i love that. that is why i want to move here.
