Activities that help develop your instincts

I'm at a point where I think a lot of my natural instincts have been overrun by overthinking and overanalysis

I'm wondering what kind of activities I can get involved into really get back to some masculine instincts and really get the testosterone and adrenaline going (and maybe pick up a useful skill along the way)

I can think of weights / bodybuilding. I've been doing this for a while and happy with my slow but steady progress.

Anything else?

-Any sports

-Dancing - 100% body communication, very instinctive

-Martial arts, the ones that are physical like Judo, wrestling , boxing...

- Anything that makes you overcome fear : bungee, downhill biking, speaking in public, approaching girls in bars and bringing them home, sex... they will force you to be a man.

Huge increase in confidence and testosterone.

Got to rely on your judgement, skill and strength.

Super fun and a great activity to travel with.

Plus great for your health, fitness and mental well being.

Uphill running with some metalcore (pref. Veil of Maya) in the buds. I was ready to smash any right-turning car that cut me off at the intersection while I had the right of way.

One thing that has seemed to be great for me is riding a bicycle.

But not really casually - I'm hauling ass, slicing up traffic, and disregarding traffic signals on a 70's road bike. At speed I really need to be thinking ahead of myself.

I wasn't able to strip the constraints of civilization from myself until I started drinking regularly. Getting really drunk teaches you a lot about yourself.

Are you serious about this? I'm basically abstaining now - I never used to drink much anyway. How does drinking affect your workouts / fitness regime?

I'm sure it's negatively affecting the rate of my progress, but I'm still making progress and not too concerned about it.

"Regularly" here means two or three days a week, and not always to the point of being shitfaced. I like to think that the inhibitions you lose while drunk (and other people lose as well) kind of shows how you would behave in a world with less rules.

Volunteer to work in an emergency unit or as a paramedic.

And when you are on top of someone's chest and trying to thump his heart back to life, remember, it's up to you wether he has any chance to return back to his family or if his family will bury him.

Battling for 2 hours to save someone's life and then losing the battle, makes you realise how real it is to be alive. And for those few occasions when you battle for 2 hours and the patient ends up in ICU and walks out a few days later, that's just magical.

Almost makes me miss emergency medicine.

I recommend some exposure to death and dying. I think it helps a lot with perspective. It's harder to overanalyse stuff.

Walks in the deep woods, off the beaten track. Krauser (and Tim Ferriss) recommend fight training. I'm planning on krav maga lessons when I have the budget.

On a serious note however, to the OP. I recommend working out (which you're already doing) because that greatly improves your motor skills and martial arts. Start off with basic karate and if you like it move on to judo, tae-kwon do, mma, krav maga (as TXH mentioned) or whatever you see that you like. Nothing makes you feel like more of a man than being able to seduce women at ease and the ability to kill another man.

I know this isn't an activity, but if you want to raise your testosterone start hanging out with guys with more of it. You'll end up doing the right activities and acting the right way. They will teach you not to care what people think.
