We talk about frame, being alpha, and how to emulate naturals etc. I believe that the best way to learn any subject is by doing. I also believe the 2nd best way is by observation. We post quotes without seeing someone deliver it.

I want this thread to have scenes we can learn from. Humorous replies to alpha frames to how NOT to act. The delivery is always key, and by watching we get the benefit of learning while being entertained.

Break down the part in the movie you're interested in. The WHY of it. The part we can benefit from.

This is a scene from Bull Durham, Kevin Costner gets into a shouting match with an umpire. Both have lost their cool and Costner ultimately loses out but the way he turns the shouting match around and makes the Umpire look completely petty and pathetic is awesome. I only picked this because it just came on while I was flipping through the channels.

There's a scene in this old black and white movie called Algiers, where the anti-hero of the story, Le Moko, goes in for a kiss close, but the broad turns away. Le Moko looks at her without a hint of feeling rejected, and orders 'Let's go to the terrace.' and then walks off. The broad then follows him, like she's hypnotised.

I thought that was a very good demonstration of how 'No' sometimes means 'Not right now.' Also I liked how Le Moko refuses to relinquish his power over her.

I can't find the exact scene, but in The Usual Suspects I love Kevin Spacey and his ability to keep Detective Courier intrigued with his stories even though they are complete fabrications. This is a pretty good one.

The scene I was looking for but can't find is when the detective is badgering Spacey's character and saying that "i will get what i want because I'm smarter than you". You see Spacey discretely smirking during this trying to keep his laughter in. Just overall, throughout the movie, spacey is playing the ignorance of the detective and basically letting him hang himself by giving himself a false sense of superiority and confidence.

Another one, Bond related, but I can't find the scene by itself is in Casino Royale. Basically Bond has fallen in love with Vesper Lynd. He goes on exotic vacations to Venice, quits his job, and is in love. His "aha" moment comes when M calls him inquiring about the money he won in the casino, which he realizes was stolen by Vesper and she was playing him all along. from then on, women are disposible objects.

Roger Dodger scene on Approach Anxiety. This whole movies is great. But you can see the nervous high school guy and his smooth talking and confident uncle. Its pretty self explanatory of the two polar opposites.

So I had a girl over tonight and she pulls up a 1997 chick flick, Fools Rush In, with Salma Hayak and that dude from Friends.

This scene caught my eye for some game lessons.

This is when they first meet.

1. She asks to cut ahead of him in line for the bathroom. Rather than acquiescing and being "too nice" he throws a bunch of wise ass comments out and calls her out for bullshitting in a cocky/funny way.

2. He eventually let's her cut ahead, but in a face saving way for himself. This way, she is in close proximity so he can continue to game her (if he put his foot down and she went to the back of the line, the interaction would probably be over for good). She says she can really pee fast (he's not caving too easy so she has to qualify herself) and he makes sarcastic remarks about her being a gold medal pisser and says "this I got to see."

3. There was nothing nice or beta in how he let her cut ahead in line, yet he didn't take the "alpha thing" to ridiculous lengths and sternly make her go to the back of the line.

4. She gives him a shit test at around 2:00, and he responds "would you like to go back to the end of the line?" Shit test passed.

5. At around 2:20 she spits out her spiritual nonsense, and he makes fun of it and makes it clear he doesn't believe in that. He mocks her. He won't comply with her frame.

The next scene after this one is Salma waking up in bed with "Chandler" after a night of smashing.

I wish there was a subtitled version of this. But you can still get the idea just by watching and being observant.

The film is "The Beat That My Heart Skipped", a film by Jacques Audiard. I really like this movie.

Romain Duris plays an aspiring real-estate shark in Paris. He's a pseudo-gangster. In this scene, he is sent by his father to collect a debt from a Russian mobster who's trying to avoid paying it.

He is unsuccessful in the debt collection, but happens to meet the Russian's young girlfriend. He runs game on her and bangs her in the changing room of the hotel pool within 5 minutes of meeting her.

She initially gives him the cold shoulder bitch treatment, but he persists. And closes.

@Quintus This is one of my favourite foreign language movies. Duris does an incredible job portraying his character. Intense, unknowable, talented(piano), charismatic, passionate, prone to occasional bouts of extreme anger. In short, almost everything that turns a woman on, but good luck finding a woman who is self aware enough to admit this to a man.
Brilliant soundtrack as well.

This was the really the movie Superbad wanted to be, but couldn't.

This is a movie that I greatly enjoy from time to time: Croupier. It stars Clive Owen before he really took off in U.S. films, and is meant to be the dark side of a Casino dealer. He only cares about himself and his own moral code, which is very different from that of the rest of society.

"I love you Jack, you know that"
"And he half-loved Marion, and she knew that too"
- This is the attitude that was consistent with every relationship I've had that lasted until I got tired of it.

His deadpan delivery and stoic attitude add a lot of interest to the movie.

"What aftershave are you using?":
"Never converse with the punters, slows things down"
- He doesn't acknowledge the shit tests and other heckling that get in the way of his goals.

There's also some other good scenes that aren't in that clip.

The major disappointment in that movie is that the female actresses that play his love interests are subpar. It was less believable to have the british women to be stunning, apparently.

The guy's a major mouth breaker. He's not much gonna have much reason to be confident in front of a pretty girl even if he wanted to. Surgery or Thailand.

She was a 10 for me back in '86 or so, even with the short hair. Sadly, she could never really spin her beauty into anything noteworthy, because she couldn't act or sing for shit. You think her speaking voice is annoying?

She serially-married musicians, with each marriage barely lasting a few years: a guy from Big Audio Dynamite, Jim Kerr of Simple Minds, Liam Gallagher of Oasis. The wall hit her hard by her mid 20's, and I would have forgotten she existed entirely except I sometimes stumble across her only - and godawful - album in my collection.

I've always loved this well-known scene from 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'. Yes, it's very scripted, but it's still instructive. This, to me, is the Platonic ideal of the perfect approach.

Light teasing/negging (he does a variation of the old 'Is she always like this?' chestnut)
The fact that he stumbles a bit, but it's okay, if there's attraction it's forgiven..

I love that movie. Seeing how he just stands there and delivers, works through the shit tests, and rewards the blonde for being warm to him is fantastic. Also, the amount of non-verbal communication is strong. Seeing things like this helped me a lot, as I used to get flustered upon shit tests or if I stutter or something goes wrong while opening/talking to girls. My pulse doesn't escalate on such occasions as it used to, as it's going to happen. When he tries to think of the phrase for her squeezing the fun out of life, he doesn't lose frame.
