Woodward is on the left...
"Joshua Woodward, one-time partner in the Table 8 chain that graced the Cooper Square Hotel, pleads not guilty to four counts in Los Angeles. Authorities say he tried to induce a miscarriage in his girlfriend in fall 2009 with misoprostol. She ultimately lost the baby. Woodward is accused of dipping his hands into his backpack on several occasions before touching his girlfriend sexually, which authorities have linked to a drug found in her underwear after a miscarriage."

My question to you guys is...could you envision yourself slipping a chick an abortion drug if you really didn't want the kid, and she was determined to keep it?

This story is fucked up all around, but there's a side of it that's missing. Did this guy's 42-year-old girlfriend want to have the baby while this guy didn't? In other words, a last-minute catch that she was holding onto for deal life. Or, did this come out of no-where? The backstory is relevant.

Wait a second - how is he being charged with four counts of *attempted murder*?
Are they saying he tried to kill his girlfriend or is this a case where the unborn child is a person as long as the woman wants to keep it?

He doesn't deserve life in prison for this. He does deserve to be jailed for some duration, though.
Men need more rights when it comes to this sort of thing. If a woman wants to keep a child, and if the man doesn't, he shouldn't have to take care of it, in the literal sense or with child-support. Men should be able to waive all rights and responsibilities if they don't want to have a child. This guy was obviously desperate, and with the society that we live in and all the rights women get compared to men in regard to these types of decisions, I think we'll start seeing more of these kinds of terrible situations.

Yes. The linked story states that when she told him she was pregnant, he immediately got upset and wanted her to have an abortion when she said she wanted to keep it. They broke up. He reinitiated contact, claiming he wanted to be in the baby's life, and they resumed the relationship. That's when he supposedly started dipping his hand in the drug before touching her during foreplay. She lost the baby, but found a strange substance in her panties, causing her to go to the police. She was instructed not to tell him about the miscarriage, and they set up a sting, supposedly catching him with the drug in some cellophane in his pocket. My guess is the multiple counts are related to the amount of times he slipped her the drug, and that the reconciliation and claims of wanting to be a father to the child were a ruse so he could slip her the drug and end the pregnancy himself.

I'm not sure how many states have the laws on the books, but there are definitely cases where an unborn child that is terminated with the life of the mother, or if the mother survives and the child dies, it's still murder. In the case of Scott Petersen (California), who was convicted of killing his pregnant wife, he got hit with two counts of murder.

I think with Mixx, he was trying to slip her Plan B, which you give her the next day to
prevent pregnancy. What this guy is accused of using is a drug to induce the miscarriage of an already developing fetus. This guy had something in powder form, and from the story, he put it on his fingers, and was inserting his finger inside her during foreplay (since she stated she found the powder in her panties).
