South Park is down with fat shaming

I recommend everyone check out the new South Park episode for the best example of shaming I have ever seen

http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-epi...ng-the-bar

Episode Summary (contains minor spoilers):

Quote:Quote:

Cartman owns up to being fat and decides that driving around on a scooter is his right. Kyle sees that Cartman isn’t the only one who finds no shame in his unhealthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, Cartman discovers he has a rival in America’s Sweetheart, Honey Boo Boo.

Haha yeah I saw that episode last night, it was actually good, which was a surprise because most new South Parks suck. I immediately thought of this forum, and the timing was great because of all that B.S. we've seen in the news with that news woman's rant about being fat and fat bullying.

South Park is notorious for that. During the Elian Gonzales fiasco they were showing previews for a new episode (the Romanian quintuplets). Then there was the raid to get Elian. The episode that came out had nothing to do with the previews and everything to do with lampooning what had happened in South Florida.

My desk is wrecked. I just spit arugula all over the place here at work. I blame you for this. I almost soiled myself watching the part about Honey Boo Boo. Seriously.

This was an awesome episode. If Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren't secret RVFers they should be.

Matt and Trey definitely have the right attitude but I find they always stop a little short of saying something that might provoke a real discussion.

They might have been able to provoke a real discussion if they took the race angle a little farther. They made one point about how it wouldn't be ok if Honey Boo Boo was black, but they could have illustrated that a lot better by actually doing the black equivalent, rather than the Cartman equivalent.

I'm genuinely curious whether they would have gotten away with that. Remember that they've gotten censored by Comedy Central before (like when they wanted to show a cartoon version of Muhammed after that Danish cartoon fiasco). Doing some over-the-top racist skit with a black Honey Boo Boo would definitely have been pushing it.

that video reminds me of a time in college when a roomates mom decided to cook for us. she made sloppy joes, i honestly had never eaten them before. i watched her cook it she put like an entire thing of ketchup during cooking. it was weird thinking this is how my friend was raised and this is one of his favorite meals. that was the first and last time i ate sloppy joes.

Except for the fact that there is only one black family in the show, and they happen to be thin. Sorry to burst your "persecuted white man" bubble, but the purpose of South Park is to be funny, not to provoke discussions on societal issues (they do a damn good job of lampooning them though). Cartman is the resident fatass, so it makes logical sense for him to be the competition to honey boo boo. Besides, the best part of that episode was watching Cartman get his ass kicked by the first lady.

Write to Dave Chapelle. Maybe you can get him to come back and do a skit.

re:the_skeeze
What makes South Park such a good show is that its able to be funny AND provoke discussion about real issues. Part of what made Dave Chapelle so funny, (and what makes Tosh so funny) is their disregarding of the normal pc rules concerning gender and race.

Unfortunately, I don't think they would have gotten away with it even if thats the direction they wanted to go. It would have been WAY too red pill for people to stomach. Positive racial stereotypes have only recently become somewhat kosher.

My girlfriend just pointed something out. How come all the women on Maury Provich doing DNA tests are all fat and disgusting?

I think becoming obese is the first part of becoming a disgusting slut. I've met some broads over here teaching that are huge sluts and you know what? They are always warpigs. Letting yourself go or losing self control is the first step towards making bad lifestyle choices. Maybe we hate on fat people because they are making those choices 'out loud'.

Hey now, that's just flat out not true. There are the thin ones that cheat on their men and get knocked up too.

Fair enough, but how many fat girls have you met that are not loud, obnoxious, horn-dogs?

I just watched the episode and immediately though about this forum and the manosphere discussion about fat shaming.

And by the way, until I read Bacon comment I did not know that Honey Boo Boo was real [Image: confused.gif]

It's about class. Low class <=> inability to plan long term, your parents never instilled those virtues in you. Sluttery is a vice, somewhere between gluttony and drink. So no surprise that those who fall pray to one are easily seduced by another...

I loathe feel-good shit like that. Loathe it. First world female esteem boosting nonsense. It's always aimed at girls. If feminists don't want to be judged by their looks, perhaps they can begin the process of getting rid of these type of things? Because they secretly DO want to be judged on their looks, and they want to be judged as beautiful! If you went up to Lindy West and said to her, if you were a high status man, "you are truly one of the most attractive women I have ever seen" she would be in tears of happiness.
