MTV's Disaster Date

MTV has a show called Disaster Date where they troll unsuspecting people.
Thought it might kinda fun to review each episode and discuss how they handled all the awkward situations.

Just when singles everywhere thought it was safe to date again...Disaster Date returns! MTV's hilarious hidden camera prank dating show is back for a 3rd season with all new episodes, and an all-star cast of actors.

Once again, unsuspecting singles end up on the worst blind date of their lives, and it all comes courtesy of a best friend who is out for revenge. The best friend sets up an unwitting friend with one of our comedic actors, and arms the actor with info on everything the dater hates. Then the Actor goes to work pushing all of the dater's buttons and turning their romantic evening into one big smoking-hot mess.

Each blind date last 60 minutes -- unless the dater has had enough and decides to bail. But humiliation has a price as the dater earns a dollar for every minute they stay on the date.

So the next time you're on a miserable blind date sitting across from an angry feminist, the world's biggest cheapskate, or a mail order bride you might just hear the words: "I'm an actor, those are actors, those are hidden cameras, and you're on MTV's Disaster Date!"

Be careful with MTV. I was involved in one of these reality shows and the entire goddamn thing is scripted. From everything you say, to how you say it, to your lines, to your reactions, etc. If they don't get something they want, they will ask you to reshoot it exactly as how they want. So take what you see with a grain of salt.

I believe it. But the premise of the show is people going on blind dates with actors. So I have to somewhat believe the unknowing people are being themselves.

MTV needs to get the "victim" to sign release rights or it's never shown. So they wouldn't make this kind of investment in paid actors and camera crews unless they were already sure it was going to be okayed before filming.

And at a max of $60 ...that's gotta be the lowest I've ever heard for broadcast rights.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

I love Disaster Date. I doubt such a bite-size, Candid Camera type show goes through the effort of scripting, especially since they have some really funny fake actors on there to generate natural laughs.

I bet the male actors have some decent game. They're able to do the natural escalation and keep the girls interested, while juggling the crazy scenarios they're given.
