Going to Vegas on Labor Day weekend with a tight budget - any suggestions?

Hey guys, so I'm gonna go to Vegas from Sept. 1-4 and while I'm looking forward to it, I don't have a lot of money to blow. I don't work full-time and I'm still in school. So what's the best way to get the best out of this trip without being able to blow a lot of money?

Going to Vegas on Labor Day weekend with a tight budget - any suggestions?

1. Stay at a low end hotel on the strip - Imperial Palace, Harrahs, Excalibur, or maybe even the Luxor
2. Bring your own alchohol to start the night
3. Eat at the mall (fast food chains, etc)
4. If clubbing, buy your tickets online (Want Tickets) or roam all the center casino bars

Hope this helps..Vegas is hard to enjoy on a pinch but hopefully once you go in a pinch like I did...I was motivated to make more skrilla to bring on the next...

Absolute madhouse and a "scene" everywhere. I'd actually skip the clubs, they are way too packed. Go to the free bars and lounges around town (I like "Lilly" in Bellagio). The cosmopolitan also has great foot traffic of people just hanging out...I thought it was a much better scene in the casino, near the restaurants, etc versus actually going into Marquee. Holsteins is a pretty affordable and great/sceney place to get a burger. Same with the secret Pizza joint on the 3rd floor around the corner from Jaleo. There is a Grimaldi's Pizza which is pretty good and cheap at the Fashion Show mall and in the Palazzo. Earl of Sandwhich also gets good props but I've never eaten there. Late night steak and eggs are great (I had a great one for $9.99 at Harrahs).

Drink in your room, get a bottle at CVS or ABC store (several on the strip). Put into a little cup and take around with you. Don't go walk on the strip, just stay at the hotels and use their indoor walkways through the bars/casinos as much as possible.

Want Tickets isn't a bad option. Its just so crowded though LDW.

Stay at a hotel that has a nice pool and just hang there the whole day. I like Flamingo and Treasure Islands for mid-lower end ones. or try to find a room key to some place like venetian and sneak into the pool that way.

Vegas and tight budget just doesn't rhyme, I guess it could work if you devoted every hour of sunlight to day game but the second you hit a bar you're paying $15 for drinks.

Some places have an open bar like the Gold Bar in Aria is all you can drink from 10pm-midnight for $30. Done it before, its a pretty nice and chill lounge. Other hotels have similar things as well, I know the Palms has a package for around $100 with club admission and open bar for the night (I would not recommend going to the Palms though).

oh yeah, last time I ate at Lavo and had dinner a little early, I think they had a happy hour there, and it was full of really good looking people hanging out and (I presume) enjoying the happy hour menu/drinks. Not uncomfortably crowded, but a decent scene with some couches and a loungey vibe.

hit up ttg and/or fisto. and find the cheapest hotel rates on trivago.com. i stayed at bally's for $295 for 5 nights.
but in general, vegas isn't really for tight budgets.

Since when is Luxor a low end hotel on the strip??? It is a legit 3.5/4 stars and has almost all the amenities that MGM Grand has but in a better location as you can take the ramp to Mandalay Bay next door which is an awesome hotel for partying with multiple clubs and perfect 10s walking everywhere, although you need a bit of a budget.

I must add number 5 to the list and that is to stay in a hotel with a nice pool, hopefully one that has outdoor bars, a DJ, and a young crowd (fuck Excalibur as last time I stayed there it was all families and ugly women from midwest...Imperial Palace was even worse with overweight, middle-aged couples everywhere). Luxor pool atmosphere is top notch especially if you are in good shape and can day game. It was the only hotel pool on Vegas strip that i've been to where the ratio was good, almost 50/50 and saw many women in large groups.

As mentioned I just came back from Las Vegas last week and for Friday night spent $120, Saturday night was more (I ponied up for a slightly better room on 28th floor of Luxor). Overall I spent around $1,300 in Vegas with most of it going towards gambling and then the rest spent on a Jeep car rental which I took to Lake Mead & Hoover Dam, Comedy shows, as well as treating a few smokin' hot British ladies to Blackjack and drinks (only got to 1st base as I later found out the b!t#h@s were engaged). I was tempted to hit a few clubs, especially LAX but when I saw the 100 person deep line at 1am filled primarily with dude's decided that I'm better off loitering at the nearest casino floor bar which is where I met the aforementioned British chicks. Doubt I would have been able to isolate them at any Vegas club on a friday night due to the extreme sausage fest.

Anyways, I honestly do not believe that going to Vegas for anything under 2 nights with a budget of <$500 is worth it however if you must just stay in a decent hotel, bring your own liquor, and try day game at the pool, especially if you are in shape and have a wingman or two. You can't go wrong!

P.S. I forgot to mention that some of the more happening clubs in Vegas won't even look at a single dude no matter how sharp you look!. You will either need to get some women with you or try to pay ridiculous money for table service. I found out later from a local that you could skip all the unpleasant stuff and just get a ride via nolinenocover.com and get into any club at a fraction of the price>check it out

I just went there last month. Definitely recommend the Mix lounge on top of Mandalay Bay (mandalaybay.com/entertainment/lounges/mix-lounge/). Gorgeous view, expensive appetizers, OK beer specials. Go early so you can get in free. They also have an aquarium, which I like.
Don't forget about the happy hour, usually from 5-7PM. Many places advertise 2 for 1 drinks around that time too. That's how I ended up at Coyote Ugly's in NYNY.
At night, Bellagio fountains area has a beautiful show every 30 minutes and you get to enjoy street performers too. Don't recommend their gellato, it gives me gas every time.
For food, they have Denny's, McDonalds, and Chipotle right on the strip.
Finally, check out the art galleries. My favorite is Peter Lik at the Venetian. There is also an amazing french restaurant for breakfast there. I forgot what it's called, but the cheese and honey platter blew my mind.

Bouchon is the restaurant. The Salmon Rilettes are amazing there as well. Such a chill spot for a lazy brunch. Its not super pricy for brunch either.

I don't believe this thing about not having a good time without spending a lot of money. You can do Vegas on a budget, you just have to be real cheap about it. I went a bunch of times during college and when i first started working and not making a lot of money and still had fun on the town. the city has endless options. you won't be poppin bottles with models, but you don't really need to.

Free lounges, Piano bars, drink on your own. The girls are all going to be there. There's cheap food and free things to do. you can also talk to groups of girls at the buffetts, have done that before, sometimes bachelorette parties go there. Go to a "hip" one like the Wicked Spoon (Cosmo)...you don't even have to go in, just stand in line and chat the girls around you and jam out. The Cosmopolitan also has some pool tables on their 3rd floor, I think they're free...people just hang out there.

Just be careful to do research, I believe Luxor's pool on Sunday is a gay pool party. Luxor is too far from the center strip which I prefer to hang out, but I agree with your premise. I've gone to "free" pool parties with DJs and young people at Flamingo Hilton and Treasure Island as I mentioned above. I believe Planet Hollywood is good. MGM is actually really good because you get the music from Wet Republic and the pool scene is pretty good there to begin with.

I would avoid Imperial Palace if you are bringing girls back to you room. I stayed their 2 years ago and that place is a dump.

I really like Rio because all the rooms are suites (larger than normal hotel rooms) and last time I got hooked up with a $500 suite for $40. The downside is that it is slightly off strip.

I hear Cosmopolitan is a pretty good spot to check out right now. It is the newest casino opened in Las Vegas and they are going for a younger demographic (21-30). The balcony rooms look amazing.

To save money on food, go to the cafes at the less high end hotels and locals restaurants. Like for example, the cafe at Harrah's or the sports lounge or sports bar at Rio. There is a local Mexican restaurant called Ricardos about 3 or 4 miles from the strip that I like and it is pretty cheap.

For alcohol, unless you "pregame" you are probably going to spend a lot, try not to worry about it too much. haha

Edit: BCZalgyris is right about Excalibur. Also avoid Circus Circus. Lots of families.

Just to add to my earlier post I totally agree with username, if Circus Circus is the worst than Excalibur is second worst hotel on the strip with Imperial Palace and Riviera following closely. Families, kids, midwestern couples, and down on their luck gamblers can all be found there and most are on a budget. You won't see fly models serving you Long Iceland Ice T's at their pools or groups full of perfect 10 blondes from Orange Co.

Seeing how I am a young professional with money to spend and enjoy company of women and gambling I tend to avoid those places like the plague. Also, Stratosphere is another hotel/casino to avoid, not necessarily because of the mediocre demographics but the fact that it is on the extreme north end of the strip and doesn't have much going for it in terms of the party scene.

Now, one hotel that has intrigued me for the longest time but I have never stayed at is the Palms. Has anyone been there and not just for the playboy club?

If you don't have cash or connections, Vegas is not be a good time.

Even with cash and connections, Labor Day Weekend is a shit storm.

Save your cash for Spring Break. You'll have a lot more fun in Cabo or Cancun during Spring Break than you will in Vegas on LDW on a budget.

I've been several times and stayed a few times there, the Palms Place is really nice, new and upscale..the main tower is pretty ordinary. Just not a fan of it in general, its been a few years though during its "hey day". Its a very "LA" crowd (LA meaning Hollywood-esque and not in the more elite sense of the word). The thing that kills me the most is that its a bit far off the strip and i guess you can walk to Rio across the street....if I'm staying off the strip, the Hard Rock has it on lock down as far as Vegas experience goes.

Rain is an enormous club though, so if you're into that kind of thing, check it out. Ghostbar is actually a decent crowd if its not too crowded, but I wouldn't wait in a line to go there or anything.

The best thing it has going for it is the pre-paid passes where you can hop from club to club (sometimes with open bar).

oh yeah, if you're on a REAL budget and don't care about pool because you're going to pool party with pre-paid admission or something, the Alexis Park is really cheap...i've stayed there a few times for under $100 a night. its also right across the street from the Hard Rock, so its not like you'll be in the middle of nowhere. edit: yeah, just checked ldw rates, lowest is $71 a night.

Vegas ... $15 for drinks.

This is frustrating because I posted long ago how to get free drinks, plus other links for bargains.

The Venetian pool sucks but I haven't checked it out lately, the Cosmo pool social scene is good. Of course a young guy will seek young women, who tend to stay at bargain places or with parents.

I've stayed at Venetian for LDW a few years ago, the pool is REALLY REALLY good, mainly the big pool right next to Tao Beach. Lots of girls in the pool just wading around and more around the periphery, just get a spot early in the day. IMO its better than going in at Tao Beach, its WAAAY too crowded there and the pool is smaller in size than a room in the venetian. I don't know how they get away with it like that.

this was about 2 weeks ago the view when I woke up. still early in the day, like 11am so its not super crowded but people are out there hanging out. the music from Tao Beach (orange umbrellas in the back) is loud so it radiates and is around the entire pool area.

What happens on MDW and LDW is a lot of east coasters come to Vegas. Venetian was just a madhouse of fine girls everywhere.

Sorry my bad, instead of using low end, I should say price friendly. A friend of mine was able to get rooms there for under 100 a night.

I think the original point of the thread was LABOR DAY weekend on a TIGHT BUDGET, and thats what I was trying to answer.

And

Going to Vegas on Labor Day weekend with a tight budget - any suggestions?

1. labor day weekend is the worst weekend to go! its very expensive and over crowded. All the clubs will charge extra. XS in encore hotel will most likely charge $200 for dudes to get in.. and when you get in it will be pack like sardines. I refuse to go to Vegas on a holiday wekeend, its not worth it.

2. predrink and bring your own alcohol. go to the slot machines and pretend you are playing and get a free cocktail from the waitress. but it will be so crowded that it can take 20 mins to get your drink while youre "pretending to be playing"

3. eat at mall and food courts. bring tv dinner and book a hotel with a microwave and request for a fridge. tell them you have to take medications and you need to store it in a fridge. ( no costs and they have to do it by law)

4. roam around the strip and hotel lobbys, act as scavengers outside of nightclubs if you are looking to get some ass.

5. you can enjoy the scene by walking around, talking to people, but if you are looking to go to clubs and tight on cash without connection. .. youre shit out of luck!

6. I got connection to Spearmint Rhino strip club. a free limo ride and free entry. just need to tip the bouncer. if you want the hook up. PM me!

best of luck youre going to get cocktease!
