Canada or USA?

Hey guys, it turns out that i might have the chance to visit one of these countries for six months. I've been checking some info about toronto, montreal and boston so far. Since i don't live there, i was wondering if there is something in the united states or canada like a student city with bunch of universities, and that is a known city because of that.

I wouldn't like to go new york, miami or L.A. because they're party cities and i'm not looking for something like that right now. And there's the fact that my parents need to "buy" the idea of me going there to study.

For visa requirements, i need to take some courses i think. I was thinking about taking some german classes, but i still haven't figured out what other type of courses might do the trick.

Any advice in this matter would be appreciated since i have to figure this out in the next few days...

PS: I was looking at some info about Poland, but i ignore if i can find any courses in english there.

In the US, we have several cities and town that are known as college towns. Me being form Texas, in this area we have a few. Lubbock (Texas Tech), San Marcos (Texas State), College Station (Texas A&M), you can consider Austin as a university town almost (University of Texas, plus Norman in Oklahoma (OU?), and Oklahoma State (city?). Point is that is just in Texas and Oklahoma. You need to figure out what is your price range, what type of women you want, what type of city you are into. Boston has a lot of universities and is a large city, so is Chicago, Houston, NYC, Atlanta, and you can throw in LA.

If you want blk girls hit up ATL or Houston, they have a shitload of historically blk schools plus the women far outnumber the men. You being different will intrigue them and blk girls are finally starting to smash outside their race. If you want white then you have to figure out what type of white. Westcoast white which is liberal and hipsterish, southern white which is to me more friendly and a bit more conservitive, Eastcoast which seem to have more feminist ways. Hispanic hit up Cali or Texas. Latina hit up Fla or NYC maybe even Chicago. Asian is Cali and Seattle.

College game is too easy. I think we have a recent thread on it. If I had to choose a place, I would choose a university town like Norman, Lubbock, or even better San Marcos because San Antonio and Austin are both about an hour away. Since you seem to be from Chile, you should love the large population of Hispanics in the San Antonio/Austin area. Toughest part of a university town is logistics. Unless you go to Chicago, Boston, NYC, you will probably need a car if you want to party off campus. That's where finding buddies with like-minded ways will help out. I had a buddy from Brazil who was studying at my uni. He didn't have a car but found his way to the bars and clubs in our town.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

I think I misread your post. You are coming out here just to study?

What do you mean you will ignore if you can find courses in English in Poland. Universities in Poland teach in English too

I`m from Canada and if I was a foreigner picking between the two, I would probably pick the states. They`re both huge countries and fairly diverse so you have plenty of options.

Do you want to be in a northern state (or anywhere in Canada) and freeze your balls off 4 months of the year? Do you want a party city/school? Are you looking at job prospects after your studies?

We need some more information about yourself and what you plan on doing here to give you a better answer.

Byzzy,

I second TexasMade regarding College Station and Austin. Boston, particularly is a great city for student life (and is known as a big univerisity town with something like 50 universities in a 20 mile radius).

I've never been to Toronto or Montreal, but I'm very eager to check Montreal out and I would imagine it could have an added benefit if you take up study of french, being a bi-lingual city. I have several friends who have visited and a few who have done exchange programs there--so far all positive feedback.

Ill back this up, there's tons of people I know that go to McGill in Montreal and have nothing but good things to say about the city, as well as the University.

Also, if considering money or cost as a factor Canada is clearly the best choice for an international student considering how insane expensive American Universities are when applying as an International Student.

I had plans to attend Clemson for quite a while until I realized it was just stupid for me to take loans out for everything over what it would cost for a year in Canada, since my parents would match whatever that cost is (about 19k a year everything included.) Where a year at Clemson was going to set me back close to 41k, not to mention the flights home at Christmas and etc.

Also there are some pretty awesome college towns in Canada as well. Although they may be smaller than say College Station in Texas or Ann Arbor Michigan, there's still all kinds of hot chicks around the campus for you..

Thanks for the replies. I want to go there to take some courses, i'm not going to go a certain university. I want to study a little bit of german at the goethe institut and take courses like that.

The main reason for me to go there is to live in another country for a while and then come back to Chile. Since i'm a student, i don't have money so my parents would be paying for it, that's why i said that i need to be able to "sell this" to them (they're already opened to this idea). So I have to take some courses because otherwise, my parents would never pay for this trip since they would believe that all I want to do is partying (something which isn't too far from the reality).

I'm not into black chicks, and I can see latina girls in my country so I'm not looking for those types of girls. I wanna go to a city where it's girls are mainly white, and like I said before, it'd be way better if it was a "student city".

Here are a couple of pretty good lists of top party schools in the USA:

^^^Plenty of white college girls at these schools.

I would never consider living in Canada because it is a FAKE western country. It has substitutes for the West's most core values that sound the same on the surface but leave it open to tyranny.

Here are some examples.

US vs Canada

Freedom vs Freedoms
Seperation of Church and State vs Accommodation of Religions
Right to Bear Arms vs Total disarmament except simple hunting rifles
Freedom of Speech vs Speech that falls within tolerant norms
The Right to Peruse Happiness vs the Right to BE Equal
On and on.

Here is a video I just found where a Canadian man expresses concern that Islam is given special accommodation by name and by law in the Peel Schools. When he asks how this is consistent with Western traditions and with Canada he is told he will get an answer in "two weeks."
